“Die Hard 2” Star Art Evans Passes Away At 82

Hollywood is mourning the loss of veteran actor Art Evans, best known for his memorable roles in Die Hard 2 and A Soldier’s Story. The talented actor passed away peacefully on December 21 at the age of 82 after a long battle with diabetes, a condition he managed with remarkable courage for many years.
“Art was not only an incredible actor but a devoted husband, friend, and source of light to everyone who knew him,” his wife Babe shared in a heartfelt statement.
“His laughter, passion, and love of life will be deeply missed. While our hearts are heavy, we celebrate the legacy of joy and inspiration he leaves behind,” she added.
Evans, born on March 27, 1942, in Los Angeles, began his acting journey at Frank Silvera’s Theatre of Being, a space dedicated to nurturing Black actors in Hollywood. His big break came in 1976 with an appearance on Chico and the Man, and from there, his career took flight.
Over his impressive 50-year career, Art appeared in more than 120 film and television productions. His film credits include iconic titles such as Death Wish, Amazing Grace, The In-Laws, Wrong is Right, Tales from the Hood, and Young Caesar. Fans of Die Hard 2 fondly remember his role as Leslie Barnes, where his sharp wit and charm made him a standout character.
Art was equally impressive on the small screen, with appearances in beloved TV shows like M*A*S*H*, 9 to 5, The X-Files, Doogie Howser, M.D., Mad About You, Hill Street Blues, and The Fall Guy. His versatility as an actor shone brightly in every performance, earning him respect from peers and admiration from fans worldwide.
