Green Power Ranger Jason David Dead At 49
Power Rangers was one of the shows 90s kids grew up with. Each had their power ranger of choice. Sadly, terrible news has just struck the fans of Green Ranger.
Jason David, who played the Green Ranger, has passed on. It is believed that the actor and father of four’s death was due to suicide.
Justine Hunt, the late actor’s representative, confirmed that Jason died in Texas. He asked everyone to give the family the respect and privacy they need as they face this horrible and trying time of coming to terms with the death of the well-loved actor.
Mr. Hunt stated that Jason loved his family, friends, and fans profoundly and would be missed.
Jason is survived by his children, Hunter, Jacob, Skye, and Jenna. Tammie Frank, Jason’s spouse whom he was married to since 2003, has filed for divorce due to infidelity.
Before getting married to Tammie, Jason was married to Shawna Frank from 1994 to 2001.
Jason rose to fame as the Green Power Ranger during the original Mighty Morphin’ Power Ranger premiere in 1993. News of his death shocked fans, and tributes started pouring in for JDF, as his fans call him.
The original Black Ranger, played by Walter Jones, led the sympathies and shared how he couldn’t believe the actor’s death. He further wrote how sad his heart was to have lost Jason, one of the members of his extraordinary family.
Walter, now 51 years old, shared that JDF was an inspiration to many people, and that with his passing, he will be missed. Walter reminisced on Jason’s sense of humor, and despite the many ups and downs they shared, he could count on Jason to be his constant and one who was willing to listen when he needed someone to talk to.
The Green Ranger debuted in the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers season 1. He was positioned as a villain of the five original rangers. Initially, he was only supposed to join the team for fourteen episodes, but his presence and character added value to the team, and he was able to build his fan base.
Eventually, he turned into a full-time Power Ranger and became the only one who shifted colors. When the powers of the Green Ranger began to weaken, he transitioned into the White Ranger and even went on to become the group’s leader.
In total, Jason was seen in three seasons of the children’s show, with 123 episodes of the Green and White Ranger. He was also tapped to reprise his role in the succeeding Power Rangers movie.
Before Jason’s untimely death, he faced plenty of problems, with divorce being the core of his issues. Additionally, Tammie also asked for their home in Texas and car as part of the divorce settlement. Tammie listed their official separation date as July 1, 2022.
Aside from infidelity, Tammie also mentioned in her statement that their marriage was no longer working because of their conflict and discord. She shared that she could no longer live with her husband because of the cruel treatment he was subjecting her to.
Jason was served the divorce papers while attending a Comic Con event.
Jason has his training studio in Houston, the Rising Sun Karate. The actor trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, MMA fighting, and Taekwondo, to name a few, and was a professional fighter for two years.
Tammie is also trained in martial arts, like Jason. During their My Morphin Life reality show, she served as the star of the show alongside her husband and also as a producer. This show gave an inside look at the couple’s real life.
After Jason’s death, Tammie has since been receiving hateful comments, with some even accusing her of killing her ex-husband.
As of date, the actor’s family has not released any official statement.
