Jamie Spears Finally Speaks Out: Without My Help, Pop Princess Britney Might Be Dead
After Britney Spears got her freedom, her posts on her social media account have been uncontrollable. Last week, Britney posted a provocative photo wearing a pair of red bottoms to her 41.6 million Instagram followers. She captioned the image, “Expressing my freedom has never felt better.”
This comes a little after a year since the music artist was released from her 13-year conservatorship with her father. Until then, her father, Jamie Spears, had power over his daughter’s financial and personal life.
And because the vast majority of Britney’s fans did not take kindly to this, her father received criticism, abuse, and accusations from millions of people, particularly on social media. A #freeBritney advocacy was created and duly supported by musicians like Miley Cyrus, Madonna, and Paris Hilton.
One of the accusations thrown at Jamie during the conservatorship was that he was holding his daughter against her will in a mental health facility. This is aside from bugging her phones and controlling every aspect of Britney’s life.
For all the hate Jamie received, he kept his lips tight and did not release any comments, only to dismiss the #freeBritney campaign and call it a joke.
But Jamie Spears has decided it is time for the world to hear his story. This is the very first interview the 70-year-old father has done, and he hopes that people will understand that his decisions were the only reason why Britney is alive today.
According to Jamie, the conservatorship was a much-needed intervention as Britney went through her darkest life episodes. At the same time, his decision also helped salvage her daughter’s relationship with her sons, 17-year-old Preston and 16-year-old Jayden, whom Britney shares with Kevin Federline.
Jamie was clear that the interview was not intended to sugarcoat his family’s struggles. Still, he insists that his decisions were the right ones, even if it meant compromising his relationship with Britney.
The father of the Pop Princess stated, “Not everybody’s going to agree with me. It’s been one hell of a time. But I love my daughter with all my heart and soul. Where would Britney be right now without that conservatorship? And I don’t know if she’d be alive. I don’t.”
He further explained that conservatorship had been a great tool to protect his daughter as well as his grandchildren because, without it, Britney might not have been able to get her children back.
Jamie now lives with his younger daughter, Jamie Lynn, in Louisiana. The place they call home now is not too far from where Britney was born and where Jamie grew up as the star quarterback of his local football team.
Jamie was clearly treading carefully during the interview, not wanting his words and statements to aggravate Britney’s well-being any further.
Since being released from the conservatorship, Britney has constantly been posting semi-naked pictures of herself on social media.
Jamie states he doesn’t want to additionally cause his daughter heartache or send her back spiraling into a dark hole.
