Jeremy Renner In ICU And Set To Undergo Second Surgery After Snow Plowing Accident
Marvel’s Jeremy Renner is in intensive care after sustaining “extensive injuries” in an accident involving a snow plow.
The 51-year-old actor will require a second surgery to treat the blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries he suffered after he was run over by the snowcat he was using to plow his driveway on Sunday.
Renner had been alone trying to clear a path out of his home in Lake Tahoe with his PistenBully, a snow groomer manufactured by Kassbohrer. Having cleared just a quarter mile of the property, the vehicle’s safety features failed, causing it to roll over Renner’s legs.
He was airlifted to the hospital after a neighbor who is a doctor attempted to stem the bleeding with a tourniquet. He, however, suffered significant blood loss as TMZ reported that sources close to him said he sustained injuries on other parts of his body aside from his leg.
The award-winning star already underwent his first surgery on Monday. However, after that, his doctors determined his extensive recovery process will include further surgical procedures.
The Hawkeye actor’s family released a statement expressing their gratitude to the “incredible doctors and nurses” who have been taking care of him and working to ensure his health is restored.
The family also extended thanks to the star’s fans, saying that they are “tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”
Explaining the incident, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office put out a statement. “At approximately 9:00 am on January 1, 2023, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a traumatic injury in the area of Mt. Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada. Upon arrival, Deputies coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for medical transport of Mr. Jeremy Renner via care flight to a local area hospital, ” the statement read.
The Sheriff’s office also clarified that the father of one was the only one involved in the accident. “The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team is currently looking into the circumstances of the incident,” it concluded.
His representatives have confirmed that while his condition is critical, he is stable. “’We can confirm Jeremy is in critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather related accident while plowing snow earlier today,” they stated while confirming that he is receiving excellent care and surrounded by family. He is also reportedly conscious and able to speak.
