Kid Cudi Cancels Tour After Coachella Injury
Renowned rapper Kid Cudi, aged 40, has had to call off his much-anticipated tour following a mishap at Coachella. The tour was slated to sweep across the nation during the summer months, aimed at bolstering his latest musical offering, the ninth studio album titled Insano, which hit the shelves back in January.
In an announcement made on Wednesday, April 24, via social media platforms X (formerly known as Twitter) and Instagram, Kid revealed the unfortunate news. He disclosed that he would need to undergo surgery due to fracturing his calcaneus (heel bone) during his performance at Weekend Two of Coachella.
“I’m headed to surgery now and there’s gonna be a long recovery time. We have to cancel the tour so I can focus on getting better to be out there in top shape to rage with you all,” he wrote.
The incident transpired on Sunday, April 21, with footage captured by fans surfacing online, depicting the artist stumbling and injuring his ankle while descending the steps of the Sahara tent stage. Following the abrupt halt to his set, Kid confirmed the injury via a post on X, acknowledging the fracture.
In his latest update, Kid expressed the gravity of his situation, stating, “There’s simply no way I can bounce back in time to give it my all,” elucidating that the injury was more severe than initially anticipated.
He assured fans who had purchased tickets that they would receive full refunds, with details to be communicated via email shortly. Additionally, Kid promised to reschedule the tour at the earliest opportunity, eagerly anticipating the chance to reunite with his supporters and deliver electrifying performances once again.
In his words, “Anyone who bought tickets will get a full refund, you’ll get an email soon. We will be back with new tour dates as soon as possible, and I can’t wait to get back out here with you guys and turn up how we do.”
Concluding his message, the artist extended gratitude to his devoted fans for their unwavering love and support, vowing to make a triumphant return. “I’m really disappointed as I’m sure you guys are too, but I will be back. That’s a promise 😉💞🫶🏾. I’m ok, just a lil soreness, but I’m in good spirits 😊” he told his fans.
Kid reiterated these sentiments on Instagram, sharing snapshots which he says were taken “after the fall in the ambulance.”
“All smiles like a G. No pain coulda stopped me from feelin the joy I felt from the show,” he wrote.
