Kim Kardashian And Kanye West Are Officially Divorced After a Two-Year Battle
Finally, it’s over for self-proclaimed billionaires and exes Kim Kardashian and Kanye West because they have finally settled their divorce after a much-publicized battle that lasted for two years.
Most importantly, the two newly single individuals have agreed on the most important detail of their divorce, which is the custody of their children.
The settlement includes 42-year-old Kim, receiving a monthly $200,000 child support that needs to be transferred to her account on the first day of the month. Additionally, the parents would have joint custody of their four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, but it appears that Kim will have custody of the kids most of the time.
Under the terms of their agreement, Kanye will be responsible for 50% of the children’s security and educational expenses.
And Kim and Kanye both agreed to participate and attend mediation should any parenting differences happen in the future. And if one of them fails to attend, the present parent gets to make the final decision about whatever caused the disagreement.
Kim and Kanye also waived getting spousal support as per earlier stipulated in their prenuptial agreement. And as part of the divorce settlement, Kanye was also agreeable to transferring the title of their $4.5-million home to Kim. This property is next to Kim’s Southern California home.
The 3,650 square feet property has five bedrooms and is currently in need of renovations. Kanye initially purchased this house to be closer to his children, but since the title is already handed to Kim, the social influencer is expected to tear it down in the future.
Aside from this Southern California home, Kim will retain her rights to their $60-million Hidden Hills estate. This is where she and her kids are currently residing, and on top of that, another property in Idaho.
As for Ye, he will keep ownership of the $60-million Malibu beach home, several ranches in Wyoming, a 300-acres land in Calabasas, a property in Belgium, and the house he grew up in Chicago.
Finally, settling the divorce is a huge win for Kim, who has struggled to get Kanye’s participation in resolving their issues. It was a trying two years for both of them but especially for Kim, whose patience was tested to the maximum. In fairness to the businesswoman, she remained calm and just hoped for Kanye to come around, which finally happened.
Kim’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, played a critical role in mediating and having a settlement that both are agreeable to. Lately, Kim and Kanye stopped communicating personally, and all exchanges were made through mediators. This is in light of Kanye’s recent controversies and worrying behavior.
Kim and Kanye married in 2014 in Florence, Italy and Kim filed for divorce last February 2021. Between the final settlement, Kanye had plenty of instigated legal battles against his wife, including Kim, requesting her civil status to go back to being single to accusing the Kardashian family of kidnapping his child.
Even North’s social media presence and how the nine-year-old dresses became an issue for Kanye. Hopefully, with the divorce finalized and agreements in place, better things will be ahead for both Kim and Kanye.
