Ozzy Osbourne Going Home To The UK For His Sanity And Health
Ozzy Osbourne, 73, has decided that it is time for him and his wife Sharon to return to the UK due to events in the United States.
In the singer’s announcement, he mentioned that everything in the US has become ridiculous, and he doesn’t want to “die in crazy America”. He even highlighted the recent school shootings, saying, “I’m fed up with people getting killed every day. God knows how many people have been shot in school shootings. And there was that mass shooting in Vegas at that concert. It’s crazy.”
This has prompted the 25-year Beverly Hill resident to consider moving back to their 120-year-old Grade II listed Buckinghamshire Welders House with his music manager wife.
Ozzy went as far as stating he won’t be following the steps of Paul Walker, Bette Davis, and Brittany Murphy, who were all laid to rest at California’s Forest Lawn Cemetery, a burial ground favored by his fellow celebrities. Ozzy mentioned, “I’m English. I want to be back. But, saying that, if my wife said we’ve got to go and live in Timbuktu, I’d go. But, no, it’s just time for me to come home.”
The couple going home causes some speculations that it is due to Ozzy’s ongoing Parkinson’s disease battle. Still, Sharon explained that the US is not the “United” States of America at all because nothing is united anymore. She added that America is a peculiar place to live in now.
Recall that last month in Birmingham, the Black Sabbath singer performed at the Commonwealth Games’ closing ceremony. Impressively, this happened two months after the singer’s life-changing surgery.
In an interview earlier in August, following his first spinal surgery in 2019, Ozzy revealed to the public that he had been told there was a chance he might end up paralyzed for the remainder of his life. He was also diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2019.
2019 proved to be a challenging year for the singer because he also suffered a fall that triggered a neck injury he had sustained from a quad bike accident in 2003. He had reportedly fractured his neck vertebra and eight ribs during the accident. The recent fall aggravated his previous nerve damage.
Ozzy underwent spinal surgery to have 15 screws placed on his back, leaving him with chronic pain in his arms, back, neck, and shoulders. This caused the singer to worry about needing bolts installed on his neck.
Discussing his health miseries with his wife, he said, “Never have I been laid up so bad for so long. It’s been breaking Sharon’s heart to see me like this, but I will get back on tour even if it kills me.”
Ozzy performed his last tour show at the Ozzfest in Inglewood in December 2018. This was part of the farewell tour “No More Tours II.”
The other legs of this tour were canceled in 2019 due to Ozzy’s ongoing health challenges and the pandemic. Hopefully, the 2023 leg will push through.
