Singer, Rapper, and Teen Heartthrob Aaron Carter, Aged 34, Found Dead
Singer and rapper Aaron Carter has passed away at age 34.
Carter was found dead in a bathtub in his Lancaster home on November 5, 2022.
Aaron Carter, brother of popular Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter, was a famed singer. Throughout the ’90s, Aaron garnered a massive fanbase that primarily consisted of pre-teens and adolescents and became every teen and tween’s childhood crush.
On Saturday morning, law enforcement received a 911 call about a male who had drowned in a bathtub. The call was from Aaron’s housekeeper.
The homicide detectives that were dispatched to his home determined that there was no trace of foul play. Aside from the police, an emergency medical team was also dispatched to Aaron’s Lancaster home, which is still cordoned off with police tape.
Aaron’s team representatives confirmed the news saying, “Right now it’s a really bad time, we’re trying to figure out what happened and what the cause of it was. We’re just as upset as everyone and hope that fans can give thoughts and prayers to his family.”
Aaron rose to fame as a singer and child star, having regular stints on television shows like 7th Heaven and Lizzie McGuire. Aaron even opened the show for the Backstreet Boys during their 1997 tour and released four successful studio albums that shot him to stardom. His self-titled debut album, Aaron Carter, was released when he was only nine years old.
Despite all the fame and success that Aaron encountered early on, his teenage years were not easy on him.
Throughout his career, Aaron battled addiction and even faced with legal challenges, including accusing his older brother Nick of attempting to put Aaron under conservatorship.
In 2019, Aaron also went on the reality show The Doctors, sharing his diagnosis of personality disorders, acute anxiety, schizophrenia, and even manic depression.
The troubled celebrity is survived by a son named Prince with Aaron’s on-and-off fiancée, Melanie Martin.
After the news of the singer’s death was announced, Melanie gave a statement to TMZ saying, “My fiancé Aaron Carter has passed away. I love Aaron with all my heart and it’s going to be a journey to raise a son without a father. Please respect the privacy of my family as we come to terms with the loss of someone we love greatly. We are still in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.”
Aside from Nick, Aaron also has two sisters, his twin Angel and another sister named Leslie, who also succumbed to a drug overdose when she was 25. She died in 2012.
Aaron’s passing has met with an outpour of love, support, and remembrance from Aaron’s friends, family, and fans.
Aaron’s Lizzie McGuire co-star, Hillary Duff, posted a tribute on Instagram:
“For Aaron– I’m deeply sorry that life was so hard for you and that you had to struggle in front of the whole world. You had a charm that was absolutely effervescent…boy did my teenage self love you deeply. Sending love to your family at this time. Rest easy.”
Rest In Peace, Aaron!
