The Duffer Brothers Are Launching a Production Company
After the immense success that the Stranger Things series has brought the Duffer Brothers, it only makes sense that they would want to expand their empire and move on to even bigger projects.
Matt and Ross Duffer have announced their new production company Upside Down Pictures, which credits Stranger Things for their success. The show has broken records as it has officially reached the title of Netflix’s Most Popular English Series of All Time. The season four premiere racked up more than a billion hours of watch time, proving that the season had been heavily anticipated by many.
The new production company has announced that they have five projects in the works, aside from finishing Stranger Things off with its fifth and final season.
The Duffer Brothers will be creating and producing a live-action TV show based on Death Note, a Japanese anime. This project has been attempted by others before, and it was not received with a warm welcome. Many people were disappointed with the effort that went into production. Hopefully, the Duffer Brothers will be able to meet those high expectations.
They are creating a television adaptation of The Talisman, a book by Stephen King. The Talisman is a dark fantasy story following a boy who is on a journey with the hopes of saving his mother from cancer. There are many dark themes, and the storyline includes a heavy amount of violence.
The Duffer Brothers also plan to create a stage play that is set in the Stranger Things universe, as well as a spin-off series. There is also another untitled show that they are working on, but no further information has been released.
Everything that the new production company creates will focus on fantastical worlds and creative themes that inspired the brothers when they were younger. The goal is to create worlds that viewers can get lost in, all while feeling nostalgic with the retelling of some classic stories.
