Ticketmaster chaos! Taylor Swift Concert Ticket Woes in Full Blast
The Swifties and all the other people who enjoy the music of Taylor Swift were left frustrated, drained, and disappointed after Ticketmaster encountered a technical error on their system during the presale schedule of the superstar’s upcoming Eras music tour.
The highly anticipated pre-ticket sale happened Tuesday morning, and privileged fans received a special code they could use in Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program. This is when most excited fans proceeded and logged on so they could come as early as possible and secure their seats.
Many hoped it would be easier to purchase their tickets thanks to the code. Still, many soon fumed and shared their frustration on social media because Ticketmaster’s site crashed before selling tickets. Ongoing transactions froze, leaving many buyers in the air, wondering if the purchase went through.
Some claimed that the purchase was successful but could not claim their ticket because of the intermittent functionality of the website. The site malfunctioning caused many fans to express their frustrations with the ticket vendor, who they felt should have expected internet traffic due to the presale.
One pissed-off fan shared that she was about to check out her tickets when the system displayed an error, and as a result, she ended up back at the very end of the queue. And this happened after she had waited for hours on the website.
She was no longer hopeful that she would still secure her tickets and remarked that TicketMaster’s supposedly reliable method of securing the website could have been more dependable.
Others voiced their frustration and dissatisfaction with the ticket prices and handling of the ticket sales. Many of these fans tried to repeat the process only to fail the second or third time and have to start the waiting game all over again.
During the presale, some fans could access TicketMaster’s website while others got error messages like “Page Cannot Be Displayed”. Others who successfully accessed the site had login issues, with their accounts being denied even if they were thoroughly verified. Others became more frustrated when the code they received was deemed invalid.
This online frustration spilled over to TikTok, where fans sought help from other music enthusiasts, asking for troubleshooting hacks and tips to successfully gain access to TicketMaster’s website.
TicketMaster, in the meantime, delayed the presale, but the site still showed a queue of more than 2,000 people, and despite the long hours they waited, their number in the queue remained the same. This frustrated the fans more because they needed to know if the unmoving queue was again part of the system glitch or if it was moving forward.
Most fans encountered an error message, apologizing for the inconvenience and saying the site would be up shortly. There was an additional message that the fans should refrain from refreshing or even closing their current browser to retain their position in the queue.
Unfortunately, this message may have been cached because it remained the same hours later. Additionally, TicketMaster provided the guideline to their consumers that they should directly access the presale link through the email they received starting Monday and not enter the URL of TicketMaster on the browser directly.
The purchase of tickets was chaos, and TicketMaster was called for not handling it systematically and in real time. The incredulous ticket prices were also a point of discussion for many fans and music enthusiasts, who even accused the American ticket sales and distribution company of monopolizing the ticket sales.
