Tristan Thompson Grieves His Mother’s Sudden Death; Ex Khloe Kardashian Extends Support
Khloe Kardashian was a wall of support for Tristan Thompson as they flew together to Toronto after the basketball player received news of his mother, Andrea, passing away.
The 38-year-old reality TV star shared two kids with her former partner, Tristan. They flew via a private plane to Toronto soon after they learned of Tristan’s mother’s death last Thursday evening.
News surfaced that the Thompson matriarch was rushed to the hospital after she suffered a heart attack at their home. Unfortunately, the medical team failed to bring Andrea back after attempts to resuscitate her.
The ex-couple left Los Angeles so the professional basketball player could be united with his family in Canada.
Despite Khloe and Tristan no longer being together and simply co-parenting their children, Khloe was understood to be very close to Andrea and was keen on supporting Tristan during this trying time.
The previous Cleveland Cavaliers’ power forward and center shares two children with the youngest of the Kardashian sisters. Together, they have a 4-year-old daughter, True, and a four-month-old baby boy, whose name has still not been released. He also has a six-year-old son with his ex-Jordan Craig named Prince and a 13-month-old son named Theo with Maralee Nichols.
The basketball player has always been very close to his mother and often shared pictures of them together on his social media accounts.
In August 2019, Tristan uploaded a photo of his mother with his daughter, True. The heartwarming image showed a doting grandmother and her happy grandchild that captured the heart of many.
The 6’6” athlete was born to Jamaican parents — Andrea and her ex-husband Trevor Thompson. Tristan has three younger brothers Amari, Dishawn, and Daniel.
Amari, the youngest of the four brothers, suffers from epilepsy, a pre-existing neurological condition that causes him to experience seizures almost every day. Due to this, Tristan has always supported advocacy groups and even founded the Amari Thompson Fund in 2013 with major support from Andrea.
The organization’s primary goal is to raise awareness and financial assistance to support those affected by epilepsy in Toronto. Andrea would often be seen standing next to Tristan or helping out in various events for this charitable cause.
During one of his interviews in October 2016, Tristan talked about his close relationship with his mother. He shared that she earned a living working as a school bus driver. Tristan told NBA.com, “Even though I don’t live at home and I’m four hours away from home, I talk to my mom every day — ask how the kids are doing, ask how she’s doing, too. Everyone knows that my mom she’s very dedicated to taking care of her sons — especially Amari. But at the same time, you must ensure that she’s okay.”
He further said, “It’s asking a lot for one parent to do, so I always try to ensure that she’s doing well, too. Whether she’s getting a massage or just getting out of the house and having a babysitter watch for a couple of hours, that’s crucial.”
Now, as Tristan deals with this devastating news, Khloe has shown her commitment to supporting him and his family as they go through a difficult period.
