Vanessa Hudgens Opens Up
Let’s talk about Vanessa Hudgens’ recent sit down interview with Nylon magazine. We know Vanessa from High School Musical, Bad Boys for Life, Netflix Christmas movies The Princess Switch, and most recently Tick, Tick…Boom! The busy 33 year old singer/actress who dubs herself “the freest-spirited control freak you’ll ever meet,” has recently moved to a new Studio City home and is taking time to reflect on herself and her past.
The more we think about Vanessa the more we realize that we don’t really know that much about her private life. We do know that she has had some celebrity relationships, but the intimate details of those relationships, we know not. From 2005 to 2010 she dated her High School Musical co-star Zac Efron. Then from 2011 to 2020, she was in a long-term relationship with actor Austin Butler from Once Upon a Time with Leonardo DiCaprio and most recently leading in the film Elvis.
Still tight lipped about those breaks up, she said, “The public only sees so much. I’ve also been through two very long life-changing relationships, and no one really knows what happened except for me. When I write my memoir, it’ll be amazing.” From the sound of that, I think Vanessa’s already got plans for those details.
In the meantime, Hudgens is focused on career and self improvement, but also her new relationship. Her current boyfriend, 26 year old Cole Tucker, is an MLB player for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Cole caught Vanessa’s eye during, “I’m not going to call it a celebrity Zoom, but it was a Zoom meditation group that Joe Jonas put together, yes, I did not expect it at all. I don’t think if I entered a meditation Zoom, I’d be like, ‘This is where I’ll meet my person.’ I just showed up and I was like, ‘Who the f-ck is that?”
The start of Vanessa’s new relationship may have been unexpected, but it seems to be exactly what she needed. Late 2020, romance rumors started between the two when they were spotted out on a date in Los Angeles. “They had a romantic dinner outside under the stars,” an eyewitness told E! News. “They shared wine and food and had a great two-hour meal. Vanessa was giddy with laughter. She was looking over at Cole and couldn’t contain her smile.” The couple became official not too long after in January of 2021.
In July, Vanessa shared a sweet birthday tribute to Cody on Instagram, writing “I hope you don’t mind that I put down in words…how about wonderful life is not your [sic] in the world.” Lyrics from Elton John’s, “Your Song.” Cody’s reply, “I lava youuuuuuu,” and “thank you baby.”
To keep up with Vanessa, follow her on Instagram. There you can get an inside glimpse of just how inseparable she and Cody are. On Hudgens’ birthday in December, Tucker shared a picture of Vanessa smiling next to a Christmas tree. “Happy birthday,” he captioned in his Instagram tribute, “you light up my world.” I love to see love and am counting down until the day Vanessa releases her “memoir.”
