“You Abused Me,” Britney Spears In Heated Exchange With Her Mother Over Conservatorship
The 40 year old ‘Princess of Pop’ recently took to Instagram to post screenshots of an alarming private text message to her mother in 2019. These texts were written at a time when Britney was being held against her will in a mental health facility.
While she was admitted, her dosage of an antipsychotic medication called Seroquel was upped by a doctor. She was already on a prescription of a drug called Lithium, which is proven to have dangerous side effects like chronic kidney disease. The chilling text from Britney to her mother, Lynne Spears, from 2019 reads:
“He was saying he wants to UP the [Seroquel] and I’m like whoaaaaaaa horsey go f*** [yourself],” Britney wrote. “[Seroquel] I thought was a sleep aid but it’s for bipolar and is WAAAAAY Stronger than lithium.
“I literally feel all the sick medicine in my stomach. I feel like he’s trying to kill me. I swear to god I do.”
What is even more disturbing is that Lynne Spears did not respond to any of these messages. Britney blasts her mother for being so callous during a volatile time in her life. She believed her mother also played a big role in planning her conservatorship. “It was all planned and you acted like you had no idea what was going on !!!”
Britney’s conservatorship was a 13 year long binding contract that determined how she should manage her finances and estates, her personal life (including not allowing her to be married or have kids) and her professional career.
During these 13 years she was forced to go on tours, get admitted into psychiatric facilities, make albums and music videos, and could not get off her birth control plan. Her father was the primary conservator and was surveilling her for all those years.
Lynne Spears responded to this post by alleging that she had in fact, responded to Britney’s texts. She posted the supposed textual exchange on Instagram between them with the caption, “Britney, I have all the ‘whole conversations’ as well! I hurt for you that you feel the people who love you the most betrayed you! Let me come to you! I love you!”
However, Britney wasn’t backing down, or succumbing to her mother’s words. She demanded that the public know how she was treated by her mother back then. Lynne would attend events and have her photos taken drinking wine, while Britney wasn’t even allowed to see her boyfriend.
“How were you at my beach house when I couldn’t even have the keys to my car??? You have some nerve showing your texts when you know you guys hurt me so bad it’s not even funny !!!”
Britney suffered for a long time under the control and abuse of her parents. When her conservatorship ended in November 2021, she said it was her “best day ever.” Britney is now married to her long term boyfriend, Sam Asghari. It’s no surprise that her mother was not invited to the wedding which took place in June 2022.
The iconic pop star of hit songs like “Oops I Did It Again” and “Toxic” is also set to make her musical comeback, with the living musical legend Elton John. The dynamic pair will be releasing a remix of his classic song ‘Tiny Dancer’ as a duet, and we absolutely cannot wait to hear it!
