A College in Texas Will Be Offering a Harry Styles Course
Imagine a world where you could take a course on any famous musician that you adore, and earn college credits simply from analyzing said artist. Much like the course on Taylor Swift at New York University, a college in Texas plans to offer a course on Harry Styles.
The course is offered through Texas State University in San Marcos, titled “Harry Styles and the Cult of Celebrity: Identity, the Internet and European Pop Culture.” The class will be available during the Spring semester of 2023.
The class will follow Harry Styles through his solo career and also his journey with OneDirection. Albums and lyrics will be analyzed, as well any other films that Harry Styles has been involved with.
There is much to learn about Harry Styles and the impact he has made in pop culture. He has three solo albums released, and five albums with OneDirection. He has starred in over five films, including Dunkirk, Eternals, and Don’t Worry Darling. He has won a Grammy, People’s Choice, MTV Music Video, and two Brit awards.
Harry Styles has also become a fashion icon for many years as he started to dress with more feminine tastes during his performances and photoshoots. On the cover of Vogue, Harry Styles wore a dress in his photoshoot and received some controversy over the matter. But the photo itself encouraged many people to start experimenting with their tastes, and made the idea of men wearing skirts or dresses more acceptable.
Since Harry Styles was born in the United Kingdom, it is impressive that he has made such a place for himself in the United States. His charm and theatrical stage presence has mesmerized thousands, and he has always been a friendly face to any fan he meets.
This class will give students the opportunity to study what makes a star like him, and how his various published works built his community.
