“A Name That I Decided Years Ago”: Paris Hilton And Husband, Carter Reum, Finally Reveals Their Baby Boy’s Name
Almost a month after shocking fans with the news of her son’s birth, Paris Hilton and her husband, Carter Reum, finally revealed their son’s name, as the Heiress shared it on her This Is Paris podcast on Wednesday, February 22.
It appears the 42-year-old model already had her son’s name planned years before she had him. She reveals this in her podcast, where she shares an excerpt of her self-titled book coming on March 14.
“We plan to name him Phoenix, a name that I decided on years ago when I was searching cities, countries, and states on a map, looking for something to go with Paris and London,” the Simple Life star goes.
She explains the idea behind choosing the name Phoenix. In her words: “Phoenix has a few good pop culture reference points, but more important it’s the birth of lames out and then rises from the ashes to fly again.”
Paris explained that she wants her son to grow up in awareness of the combination of disaster and triumph that life brings. According to her, the knowledge that these two things “come around throughout our lives” is a source of great hope for the future.
“Even when the past is painful, and the present seems to have fallen to s**t, it’s weird how two ideas that are so different, so completely opposite, can coexist like that. But they do. Freedom and suffering, joy and sorrow, love and loss. So his name is Phoenix Barron Hilton,” she read from her upcoming book.
Going into the baby’s middle name, she said she and Carter agreed on the name Barron. The name, she explained, was inspired by her grandfather Barron Hilton who was her mentor.
“I looked up to my grandfather so much, and we were so close, and I miss him every day so I really wanted to honor him by having his name in my first son’s name,” she revealed.
“So there you go, my beautiful baby boy’s name is Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum, and Carter and I are so proud to welcome him into the world,” she ended the excerpt.
Barron Hilton was a business magnate and owner of the $14.2 billion worth Hilton Hotel chain. His former Bel Air home was the venue for Paris and Carter’s lavish wedding ceremony in November 2021.
The public personality kept the news of her son, who was born through surrogacy, private — even from her mom, sister, and best friends. She did not announce his birth until he was a week old.
As she shared with Harpers Bazaar, she wanted that one thing to be hers as the events of her life have been public.
