Adele Opens Up About Her Life-Changing Decision To Quit Alcohol
In a candid and heartfelt moment at her Weekends with Adele show in Las Vegas, the Grammy-winning sensation, Adele, took her fans by surprise by sharing a personal journey that transcends the boundaries of her music career. The 35-year-old artist, cherished for her soulful melodies, revealed that she had embraced sobriety over three months ago, shedding light on the profound changes in her life.
“I stopped drinking maybe like three and a half months ago,” Adele disclosed to her captivated audience, as reported by the Daily Mail. This courageous admission illuminated a path toward self-discovery that had remained hidden from the public eye.
The Set Fire To The Rain singer acknowledged the challenges that came with her decision to abstain from alcohol, describing it as “boring.” She admitted to having grappled with excessive alcohol consumption during her formative years. “I mean, I was literally borderline alcoholic for quite a lot of my 20s,” she confided.
The singer didn’t stop at alcohol. She also revealed that she had bid farewell to caffeine, a move that signifies her unwavering commitment to a healthier lifestyle. “So enjoy your whiskey sour. I’m very, very jealous,” she quipped to a fan who had indulged in a day of drinking before attending her show.
Adele’s decision to embrace sobriety has been a transformative one, closely tied to personal milestones. Following her divorce from ex-husband Simon Konecki and the heartbreaking loss of her father, Mark Evans, to bowel cancer in 2021, Adele found solace in a life without alcohol. She discussed this journey in a candid interview with Oprah Winfrey during her CBS special, emphasizing the introspection that came with sobriety.
“That’s one great way of really sort of getting to know yourself, is just drinking water and being sober as anything,” she shared with Winfrey, reflecting on her journey of self-discovery.
Yet, Adele’s show was not solely focused on her own journey. She also gave a glimpse into her personal life as a mother. Her son Angelo, who turns 11, is set to have a memorable birthday celebration. “We have got a busy week coming celebrating him. He is very much like me because I take my birthday very seriously,” she chuckled.
As the Rumor Has It hitmaker revealed her plans, it was evident that her son shares her enthusiasm for celebrating milestones. She affectionately noted, “He is my son and, obviously, I adore him and he is like, ‘Can I do this and do that?’”
She playfully added, “That is very expensive. You are 11; shouldn’t we be having a tea party still? But you know 11-year-olds in 2023 are like going on 25!”
