After Twitter Spat, Nicki Minaj Says She Would Work With Taylor Swift “In a Heartbeat”
It’s final. Nicki Minaj has declared that there is no bad blood between her and Taylor Swift. Recently, the rapper went as far as to openly praise the pop superstar on social media.
Last Wednesday, 41-year-old Nicki used X to commend the 34-year-old Eras Tour singer for consistently coming up with new and excellent music. When Nicki was asked if she would collaborate with Taylor in the future, Nicki said she would sign up for it in a heartbeat.
Nicki’s posts indicate that her Twitter feud with Taylor in 2015 is long forgotten. The rapper’s enthusiastic reply was particularly interesting, especially given how swiftly Nicki rejected a collaboration with Kanye West. Last week, the male rapper asked if he could add their 2018 song “New Body” to his upcoming album entitled Vultures. The request was quickly and publicly turned down. The Trinidadian-born female musician replied to Kanye’s social media post, saying that the song has been around for a while now.
Meanwhile, Nicki’s praise for Taylor assured Swifties that her recent criticism of Billboard was for Billboard alone. Some fans thought that the complaints were associated with Taylor whose album was one of the top five. Though Nicki also managed to break into the top five, the “Pink Friday 2” singer has held on to the number two spot, just behind Taylor’s “1989 (Taylor’s Version).” In doing so, Nicki pushed one of Taylor’s LPs out of the coveted top five.
To nip rumors in the bud, Nicki clarified through her Tweets that she has no issue at all with Taylor’s dominance in the vinyl LP market. She even bestowed lavish compliments on the singer-songwriter’s work ethic and success. She also encouraged her fans to support Taylor.
Nicki’s tweet began, “…QUEEN TAYLOR DESERVES!!! PERIOD!!!!! She takes months & years off, then comes back with great music & fans who’ll never leave her!!!! The END!!!!!!!”
She continued, “I was simply discussing vinyl with the Barbz due to questions they had for me….”
Nicki went on, “We broke the record in vinyl sales for any female rap album in history. That means retailers had no way of knowing that the vinyls would be in high demand. Either way, now they do! That’s a marvelous thing!’”
“Now it’s our turn. I’m about to thank each & every artist on this album. But!!!! The point is that we have something to aspire to as we watch the SAG QUEEN Taylor & the Swifties & Republic Records.”
Nicki ended her post with, “Any more questions on this? Who’d like to get cussed TF out?”
Nicki’s tweets got fans excited for a possible collaboration between her and Taylor which is certainly a musical event to watch out for. After all, the prospect of two powerful women creating beautiful music together and owning the stage will be a momentous occasion for their fans.
In the past, the “Super Bass” singer has had several successful collaborations with renowned musicians, including Jesse J, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and David Guetta.
