Amanda Bynes, Found Naked And Roaming The Street Alone, Is Put On A Psychiatric Hold
TMZ reports that actress Amanda Bynes has been put on a psychiatric hold after being discovered roaming the streets by herself, naked.
The 36-year-old actress recently canceled a public appearance last Saturday. On Sunday morning, she was found naked, roaming around downtown Los Angeles, looking disoriented.
According to reports, after waving a car down, Amanda informed the driver that she was having a psychotic episode and had called 911 for assistance. She was then taken to a local police station, where a mental health team assessed her and put her on a 5150 psychiatric hold.
The CA Welfare and Institutions Code is the legal basis for a 5150 psychiatric hold. This allows for the 72-hour forced detention of a person against their will by a qualified officer or clinician. While on hold, the person will need to go through a full assessment to identify their mental health status.
Currently, the Disney star is hospitalized and will likely receive care and undergo different assessments within the next few days. Thankfully, the actress was not harmed during the morning incident.
This most recent incident happened after the actress canceled last Saturday’s All That Cast reunion at ’90s Con. And Amanda cited an unidentified illness as her excuse for skipping the event.
And according to That’s 4 Entertainment, the actress was initially very eager and excited to reunite and see her former Nickelodeon cast mates, and then at the last minute, she canceled.
Her co-stars Danny Tamberelli, Lory Beth Denberg, Kel Mitchel, and Kenan Thompson, as well as Amanda’s fans, eagerly anticipated the rumored reunion. Note that the get-together would have been her first public appearance after the end of her 8-year conservatorship.
Everything seems to have gone awry, especially with the actress’ health concerns, because two months ago, Amanda shared with People how excited she was to reunite with the cast and meet her fans. All That, the comedy show, aired from 1996 to 2000, and Mike Tollin and Brian Robbins created it.
The show launched Amanda’s career and paved the way for her rom-com era before the troubled star had to step back and away from acting because of all the controversies she was getting involved in.
Amanda’s love life has also been always publicized with the latest one with Paul Michael. The two reportedly broke off their engagement in July 2022, but sources cite that they are back together and living in Amanda’s LA home. Although the two are again in a relationship, the status of their engagement is not yet clear.
It was not easy for Amanda to always be in the Hollywood spotlight, especially during her younger years. She had to be placed under a 9-year legal conservatorship controlled by her mother, which recently ended this month.
The need for conservatorship arose in 2013 when Amanda, following a public meltdown and several run-ins with the law, voluntarily entered a Pasadena mental health facility.
The actress had two hit-and-run incidents plus a DUI in 2020; the following year, police arrested her as she threw a bong out of a window of her 36th-floor Manhattan apartment.
