Amber Heard Finally Settles The $1 Million Settlement For Johnny Depp

It’s finally a clean state, with a debt cleared and closed, for Amber Heard, as news surfaced that she has finally paid her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, the $1 million settlement from the bitter and controversial legal battle they were involved in last year.
The Pirates of the Caribbean alum has plans to use the money for a good cause, as he promised to divide the million among five of his favorite charity organizations.
Recall that Johnny and Amber finally settled their much-publicized defamation claim against one another in December, after five long years of unpleasant legal face-offs.
Amber, will be making her comeback film In The Fire after the legal case, scheduled to premiere at an Italian festival by the end of this month. She had claimed that she was subjected to domestic violence while married to Johnny during the course of their fifteen-month-long marriage.
Amber came out victorious in London, but a second case processed in Fairfax, Virginia, last year favored Johnny. With Johnny’s win came the order for Amber to pay her ex-spouse a whopping $10 million in compensatory damages and another $5 million in punitive damages. The $5 million was later significantly reduced to $365,000.
On the other hand, Johnny was also ordered to pay Amber $2 million in defamation damages. After the amounts for each party were released, news about Amber’s inability to deliver what she owed also surfaced and became talk among social media outlets. Eventually, the legal teams of both parties agreed on new amounts to be settled.
Six months later, TMZ shared the news that Amber finally settled the $1 million she was ordered to pay Johnny. Their case is considered one of Hollywood’s most bitter divorces.
The publication further revealed that the $1 million settlement money would be divided equally among Johnny’s favorite non-profit organizations, each receiving $200,000. With this in mind, the charities to receive this financial assistance are The Painted Turtle, Make-A-Film Foundation, Red Feather, Amazonia Fund Alliance, and Tetiaroa Society.
Insiders revealed that Johnny chose Tetiaroa Society and Painted Turtle as a tribute to two people he considers his life heroes, their founders, Marlon Brando and Paul Newman.
Meanwhile, Make-A-Film is known for granting wishes and making children’s dreams a reality in the acting world. Amazonia and Red Feather, on the other hand, promote and help indigenous communities maintain their heritage and culture.
While the debt has been settled, the 60-year-old Johnny has always been clear that gaining money from Amber was never his intention. The actor’s primary goal—which is why he pushed through with the defamation case—was to clear his name, credibility, and reputation.
After the case, both have been trying to move forward and live their respective lives, with Johnny making one of the strongest comebacks in Hollywood after it turned its back on him. He is also busy with his Hollywood Vampire gigs and performances.
Amber is getting her life back by relocating outside Madrid, Spain, with her daughter, Oonagh Paige.
