Amber Vacations In Spain With Daughter Oonagh
Aquaman actress Amber Heard appears to have no care in the world as she spends quality time with her 1-year-old daughter Oonagh in Spain. This is despite her ongoing battle to get the insurance that can cover the $8 million in legal fees that she owes her ex-husband, Johnny Depp.
The embattled actress was relaxed and makeup free as she spent the day in the playground of Palma de Mallorca in Spain. Her daughter, whom she shares with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, appeared to enjoy the outing as she played on the slides of the Mediterranean City playground.
Amber wore a smile as she took in the sights of Spain with her small entourage. As of date, she still needs to pay Johnny a staggering $10 million after their much-publicized defamation trial earlier this year.
She has been hopeful that with her recent change of lawyers, she will be able to force two insurance firms to take accountability and pick up the multimillion-dollar bill that she owes. The new firm representing the actress for her appeal now is David L. Axelrod and Jay Ward Brown.
Additionally, Amber also tapped Kirk Pasich to be part of her legal team in an attempt to get these insurance companies to cover her bill. According to Puck News, the bill may not just be $10 million—it soared to more than $8 million before the Virginia trial started and seems to be closer to $15 million now.
The goal of Amber’s team right now is to obtain the homeowner’s insurance to cover this likely sum.
And who are these insurance companies that may foot the bill? They are Travelers Commercial Insurance Company and New York Marine General Insurance Company.
Back in July 2021, Travelers Commercial Insurance Company sued New York Marine General Insurance Company to gain repayment of what it had shelled out to defend a client. This client turned out to be none other than Amber.
Amber’s homeowner’s policy with Travelers Commercial Insurance Company took care of the “libel” amounting to almost $500,000. In comparison, New York Marine General Insurance Company granted her a general liability policy worth $1 million.
The two insurance firms are at odds over Travelers Commercial Insurance Company’s backing Amber in choosing her lawyers. New York Marine General Insurance Company thinks otherwise, believing that the case was “fairly straightforward.”
The judge agreed with New York Marine General Insurance Company’s viewpoint that using local, obviously less expensive lawyers is permissible.
Travelers Commercial Insurance Company doesn’t have that confidence in the other insurance company’s appointed attorneys, Sean Patrick Roche and Timothy McEvoy.
The insurance company sees these two lawyers and the entire New York Marine General Company as piggyback riding on the works of Amber’s other attorneys, Elaine Charlson Bredehoft and Roberta Kaplan.
New York Marine General Company claimed that Elaine and Roberta froze out their lawyers. Now, the insurance company wants the $621,693 to be repaid. This is to compensate for their contribution to Amber’s defense fund since some legal proceedings did not include their company lawyers.
Overall, Kirk Pasich will handle this legal battle, and Amber can expect the next few months to be long (and more expensive) for her.
