Anderson Cooper Reveals “The Most Annoying Thing” About Working With Andy Cohen
When Anderson Cooper appeared on Watch What Happens Live on Dec. 16, alongside Julianne Moore, the spotlight quickly turned to his long-time friendship with host Andy Cohen. The two have shared countless laughs and controversies as co-hosts of CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live since 2017, and one fan’s question revealed some behind-the-scenes drama.
Jack, a viewer from Washington, D.C., asked, “Anderson, what’s the most annoying thing about working with Andy on New Year’s Eve?”
Anderson, 57, took a moment before cheekily responding, “Just who he’s gonna insult and what the clean-up on aisle 3 is gonna be in the morning.”
Their partnership has brought both entertainment and controversy to the annual broadcast. A standout moment came during the 2021 celebration when Andy, by his own admission, was “overserved.”
The Bravo executive famously called Ryan Seacrest’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve team “a group of losers” on live television. Though Andy later expressed regret for his remarks, the incident resulted in stricter alcohol rules for the pair during the 2022 broadcast.
Saying that he had a blast, Andy defended himself on The Howard Stern Show in January 2022. While he said he will not be shamed for drinking and having fun on New Year’s Eve, he did admit, “The only thing that I regret saying, the only thing is that I slammed the ABC broadcast. And I really like Ryan Seacrest and he’s a great guy and I really regret saying that and I was just stupid and drunk and feeling it.”
Thankfully, the feud between Andy and Ryan is water under the bridge. When Ryan appeared on WWHL in September, Andy confessed, “I don’t even remember what the feud was about. But we did see each other this year. We did wave this year.”
Ryan confirmed the reconciliation, as he said, “I just said — are you going to be there this year? We will be, we will wave. We can’t get to each other or we’d hug!”
