Ayesha And Stephen Curry Share Secret To Parenting

Ayesha and Stephen Curry believe that keeping their marriage strong is the key to being great parents.
At a recent Sweet July pop-up event in San Francisco, Ayesha opened up about how she and her NBA superstar husband juggle their busy careers while raising their four children — 12-year-old Riley, 9-year-old Ryan, 6-year-old Canon, and baby Caius, whom they welcomed in May.
“I think for us, our relationship always comes first. Then we’re parents,” Ayesha shared with PEOPLE. “And that works for us because then you have two happy people raising the kids in the house. So the family sector in our lives always comes first.”
Ayesha believes that surrounding themselves with the right people has also been a game-changer. She explained, “And then honestly, it’s just surrounding ourselves with people that are smarter than us and know what they’re doing and can make the things run. And they allow us the space to be creative and they allow us the space to truly show up however we choose to. And I think that’s what’s really worked for us.”
She added that she and Stephen aren’t control freaks when it comes to managing everything. “We have ideas, but we’re willing to let people help us see those ideas into fruition,” she said.
Since welcoming baby Caius, life at home has been even more joyful. “He’s 9 months now. He’s crawling and laughing. He only says dad,” Ayesha revealed. As for their older kids, she said they’ve adjusted beautifully to having a new sibling.
“We were worried about having the six-year gap between our son and Cai Cai, and it’s been magical,” she said. “He truly feels like a big brother. He only wants to protect him. There’s no jealousy. I love it.”
The girls, she added, have naturally stepped into big sister mode. “They’re like little moms. It’s the best decision we’ve ever made, honestly.”
