Bald Is Beautiful! And Jada Pinkett Smith Is Celebrating It With A New Snap!
Jada Pinkett Smith is proudly embracing her bald head around six months since her husband, Will Smith, punched Chris Rock during the Oscars.
The actress, 50, took to her Instagram last Tuesday, National Bald is Beautiful day, to share her stylish new picture. The photo shows Jada wearing a fashionable silk top, ruby red lipstick, and diamond earrings.
She captioned the photo with a positive message to her 11.7 million followers: “Happy Bald is Beautiful day to all my brothers and sisters with no hair.”
The photo amassed 42,000 likes. It can be recalled that Jada started losing her hair and then went completely bald owing to alopecia. This is a condition when the person’s immune system attacks the hair follicles, causing bald patches on the head and eventually total hair loss.
The American actress was diagnosed with the condition in 2018 and was at the receiving end of a joke—gone wrong—that led to the ill-famed Will Smith and Chris Rock Oscar slap.
While presenting the Best Documentary award last March, Chris Rock took a dig at Jada. He joked, “Jada, I love you. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it.” This is in reference to the 1997 G.I. Jane starring Demi Moore, who sported a bald look in the film.
Jada rolled her eyes at Chris’ joke, and the camera returned to Chris. Meanwhile, Will Smith went up the stage and calmly approached the presenting Chris. Will then slapped him in the face and returned to his seat.
Chris was nothing short but stunned by what happened in mere seconds. And he said, “Will Smith just smacked the shit out of me.” And from his seat, Will yelled back, “Keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth!”
Everyone was shocked by the real-life drama at the Oscars, and Chris added in his defense, “’A G.I. Jane joke, dude!” But Will was not having any of it and repeated his earlier statement.
Fast forward, Will ultimately made a public apology for his behavior on his social media accounts and YouTube, but Chris has not responded to his public show of regret yet. After the incident, Chris had minimal to no comments about the scandalous incident, only mentioning that he was still processing what happened and that, for the time being, he won’t be telling any jokes.
Jada briefly discussed the slapping incident on her show Red Table Talk last June and encouraged both men to talk it out. She said her hope is for the two men, who are both capable and intelligent, to have the chance to talk about the incident and eventually reconcile.
She ended her program with the statement, “The state of the world today, we need them both. And we all actually need one another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and that’s to keep figuring out this thing called life together. Thank you for listening.”
Up until now, a reconciliation is not yet happening.
