Ben Affleck Discloses What Wife Jennifer Lopez Said To Him During Viral Grammy Moment
After speculations on what Jennifer Lopez said to her husband, Ben Affleck, during an exchange caught on camera at the 2023 Grammys in February, Ben has finally revealed what Jennifer said to him.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor was asked if the meme spread across the internet from the event. He answered by saying it was some sort of joke.
Going into the events of the night, he recounted that at some point, he saw the host of the award show Trevor Noah and exclaimed, “Oh, God.”
“They were framing us in this shot, but I didn’t know they were rolling. I leaned into her and I was like, ‘As soon they start rolling, I’m going to slide away from you and leave you sitting next to Trevor.’”
Revealing the response interpreted as a snap, he said it was, “You better f***ing not leave.”
“That’s a husband-and-wife thing,” he stated jokingly.
“I mean, some of it is, I’m like, ‘All right, who is this act?’ Like, I don’t keep up. My wife does, obviously. And yeah, it is your wife’s work event. And I’ve gone to events and been pissed off. I’ve gone and been bored,” he added, explaining his disinterested look at the Grammys. The look had spun a series of memes and hilarious tweets as users compared him to his wife, who seemed to be having a great time.
“Ben Affleck would rather be anywhere else than front row at the #Grammys2023,” one meme read.
“Ben Affleck looks like he’d rather be at the dentist,” another viewer said.
“Why does Ben Affleck always look like he’s 10 minutes away from crying during a much needed smoke break,” a person tweeted.
Addressing the speculations that he was intoxicated at the award in the interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Suicide Squad star went further, “I’ve gone to award shows and been drunk, a bunch. Nobody ever once said I’m drunk. [But at the Grammys] they were like, ‘He’s drunk.’ And I thought, that’s interesting.”
Despite the memes and all the dragging that followed on social media, Ben said he had fun at the awards show. “No. I had a good time at the Grammys. My wife was going, and I thought, ‘Well, there’ll be good music. It might be fun.”
The day after the event, Jennifer, undeterred by the social media drama, posted clips from the award show on Instagram.
“Always the best time with my love, my husband,” she captioned. She accompanied her post with a white heart emoji.
