Blackpink Lisa’s Contract Remains Uncertain As Renewal Negotiations Are Still Underway
Lisa, one of the four girls who make up Blackpink, is currently undergoing contract renewal discussions about whether she will stay with the globally acclaimed K-Pop girl group. Until now, there has been no final say on if she will remain with YG Entertainment, the company currently managing Blackpink.
The 26-year-old Thai performer’s contract is set to expire next month.
Discussions are continuously going on between Lisa and YG Entertainment about the terms of her renewed contract, but things are yet to be finalized.
The Thail beauty made her debut with the girl group in 2016. The three other girls in the group are Jisoo, Rosé, and Jennie.
Lisa has been regarded as Blackpink’s best dancer among the four girls. She also often demonstrates her other skills in their performances, like rapping, much to the delight of their global fans, establishing herself as one of the most well-rounded entertainers.
Outside her Blackpink career and off the stage, Lisa has also proven that she has the makings of a good content creator, as in her YouTube channel, Lillifilm Official.
On her channel, Lisa vlogs about her life, sharing with her millions of YouTube fans how life is as she tours with her group mates, models and endorses products, and takes her followers on the hard work she has to endure as she makes the journey of becoming a worldwide performer.
Recall that Lisa already broke two Guinness World Records after releasing her music video for her first solo single, Lalisa. The music video achieved the impressive feat of being the most-watched video by a solo singer within 24 hours of its release. Lisa’s video garnered 73.6 million views.
Last April, Blackpink headlined Coachella, further strengthening their already-established global status.
Adding to her list of achievements, Lisa also won an MTV Video Music Award in 2022 for the Best K-Pop Video for Lalisa. This video broke the viewing record on YouTube upon its debut. Lisa was the first K-Pop solo artist to receive the honor.
Aside from her music career, Lisa has also landed major print magazine cover jobs, including one for Harper’s Bazaar Thailand. In 2021, she also launched a makeup collection in collaboration with MAC.
Lisa is also an ambassador for world-renowned brands like Bulgari, Penshoppe, and Chivas Regal.
The versatile model and performer has not yet released any comments about her ongoing contract discussions with YG Entertainment. However, her current agency issued a statement saying that the uncertainty is due to Blackpink’s ongoing world tour and Lisa’s individual activities. It has nothing to do with contract renewals, which are currently under discussion.
Meanwhile, Jennie, who is also a group member, opened up about how being part of the group helped her break barriers.
Jennie is facing issues with her health, and due to her deteriorating health condition, she needed to make a timely exit while the group was performing their Blackpink tour in Australia. The Idol recently received criticism for her lack of energy during performances.
