Blake Shelton Shares Hilarious FaceTime Mix-Up With Vince Gill
Blake Shelton might want to reconsider letting his stepson, Zuma, borrow his phone after one unforgettable — and slightly embarrassing — accident. The country star recently shared the hilarious story during an interview with CMT, and it’s sure to bring a smile to fans’ faces.
It all started when Zuma, now 16, thought he was FaceTiming his nanny, Vince. But instead, he accidentally dialed Vince Gill, the legendary country musician! Recalling the mix-up, Blake said with a laugh, “I was walking through the house and I heard Vince Gill’s voice kind of laughing. I looked and I saw Zuma throw the phone down.”
At the time, Zuma was completely confused by the “mystery man” on the other end of the call. Blake explained, “He was like, ‘I don’t know. There was some man that answered Vince’s phone.’”
But it wasn’t just any man. Vince Gill was in Amsterdam, touring with The Eagles, when he picked up the call. “He FaceTimed him [Vince Gill] while he was in Amsterdam with The Eagles!” Blake added, still amused by the memory.
When Blake followed up with Vince to explain the situation, the musician had a good laugh about it. “Man, I was laughing,” Vince told Blake over the phone. “I thought you must have been drunk or something,” he added.
At the time, Zuma was mortified by the incident, but things have certainly changed. “But now, a couple of years later, Zuma is the biggest Vince Gill fan in the world. He’s like, ‘Can we FaceTime him again?!’” Blake shared.
Blake, however, has firmly put an end to that idea. Reaffirming that such will never happen again, he said, “That was humiliating for me!”
Blake is clearly a proud and devoted stepdad to Zuma and his brothers, Kingston, 18, and Apollo, 10, whom Blake shares with his wife, Gwen Stefani.
