Britney Spears Fights Back Against Drug Allegations
In a recent news report by The Daily Mail, shocking allegations about Britney Spears’ alleged drug use have emerged, causing concern among fans and the media. However, both Spears and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, have vehemently denied these claims.
According to a Daily Mail journalist, Kevin and Britney’s sons, 17-year-old Preston and 16-year-old Jayden said that she is deeply sunk in drug use. “I fear she’s on meth – I’ve been praying someone would make it public and that she wakes up,” Kevin reportedly said.
The report added that the singer’s sons said that her drug use has led to their refusal to meet her as they said that she gets drugs delivered to her house.
However, the ex couple have come out to say nothing about the report is true. Kevin, father of Britney’s two sons, expressed his dismay at the false accusations in a statement on his Instagram Story. He called the reporting “false” and “repulsive,” emphasizing the negative impact it has had on their family. The dancer and rapper, who shares custody of their children with Spears, explained that such exploitative journalism using minors as click bait is “another repulsive example of where, unfortunately, certain journalism has sunk today.”
Britney herself responded to the report in an Instagram post, addressing her sons and their strained relationship. Expressing sadness over the situation, she stated her disbelief that her own children would make such claims against her.
“This may not even be them saying such things because it doesn’t make any sense to me for them to be saying that… It makes me sad because I tried so hard to make things nice for you and it was never good enough. So you guys go behind my back and talk about me … it breaks my heart and the news is so low,” she said, expressing hopes they did not say any of those things.
Britney’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, took immediate action by sending a legal letter to The Daily Mail, strongly refuting the allegations made in the article. The letter, seen by PEOPLE, criticized the publication for publishing what it calls “false and defamatory fabrications.”
Highlighting that Kevin himself had already denied these claims when speaking to TMZ earlier that day, the attorney accused journalist Daphne Barak, who wrote the article, of seeking to exploit and harass Britney and her minor children.
The legal document also emphasized that Britney’s representatives were not contacted before the story’s publication, showcasing a clear disregard for the truth. The letter concluded by condemning the behavior of The Daily Mail, stating that such “shoddy” journalism is completely unacceptable, especially considering the unfair scrutiny Britney has faced throughout her career.
