Channing Tatum is reminiscing about his unforgettable trip to Wales with Ryan Reynolds.
On February 9, the 44-year-old actor shared a series of Instagram photos from his visit to Wrexham, where he filmed a Super Bowl commercial with Ryan, 48, and Rob McElhenney’s soccer club, Wrexham AFC.
“Caffeine and dancing aside, that trip to Wrexham was something I’ll never forget,” Channing wrote. “What Ryan Reynolds @vancityreynolds and @robmcelhenney have done for the community in Wrexham is magic.” His post included snapshots of himself and Ryan posing near a Deadpool sculpture, meeting fans, and filming his STōK Cold Brew Coffee commercial.
Channing spent a few days soaking in the town’s atmosphere and was blown away by its energy. “The team and town have a sense of optimism and a ride or die loyalty that made me want to stay forever,” he added.
“Incredible work, Ryan and Rob. Good people build good things. And thanks to the many beautiful people of Wrexham. Up the town!”
The commercial, which aired during the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs, featured Channing teaching Wrexham players some Magic Mike-inspired dance moves — fueled by cold brew.
“I’m buddies with both of them,” Channing told PEOPLE about his relationship with Ryan and Rob, 47. “And I haven’t really done any sort of dancing in a while, so I just was like, ‘Hell yeah, let’s go.’ We didn’t want to go full stripper. We wanted it to be fun and keep it PG.”
Channing and Ryan also recently teamed up for Deadpool & Wolverine, where Channing finally got to play his dream role — Gambit. While Marvel has yet to confirm Gambit’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, both actors have expressed interest in a solo Gambit movie, with Ryan’s Deadpool making an appearance.
“I honestly don’t know what goes on behind closed doors in the bookkeeping sessions at Marvel, but I do know that they’re obsessed with him in that role. It’s kind of like the same situation I went through. Once you show that it works well, that’s really what they need. Sometimes they just need to see it in action,” Ryan said in a November 2024 interview.
