Channing Tatum Talks About His Love Life And Failed Marriage With Ex-wife Jenna Dewan
Actor Channing Tatum shared intimate details about his relationship with his girlfriend, Zoe Kravitz, during an interview with Vanity Fair. He also opened up about his qualms about being married again after his divorce from his ex-wife Jenna Dewan.
Channing met his ex-wife Jenna in 2006 while shooting the movie Step Up together. In July 2009, the two got married and eventually were blessed with a daughter in 2013. Unfortunately, their love story didn’t last forever because, in 2018, the two announced that they would be separating. Channing and Jenna were officially divorced one year later.
During Channing’s interview with Vanity Fair, the Magic Mike actor revealed how he and Jenna grew apart little by little after becoming more aware of their differences. The actor shared how they both tried to fight for a long time for their family, even if they knew that it was a lost cause.
Channing further shared, “I think we told ourselves a story when we were young, and we just kept telling ourselves that story, no matter how blatantly life was telling us that we were so different.”
“But when you’re actually parents, you really understand differences between the two of you. Because it is screaming at you all day long. How you parent differently, how you look at the world, how you go through the world.”
Recalling how he felt during the initial separation, Channing admitted how terrifying it was.
“Your life just turns on its axis. This whole plan that you had literally just turns into sand and goes through your fingers and you’re just like, ‘Oh, shit. What now?’”
Channing said that he tried to stay positive despite the separation, and with time, he finally acknowledged that their split was probably what he needed.
Further reflecting, Channing continued, “I don’t think I would’ve ever done the work, I think, on myself in the way that I had to do the work on myself to try to figure out what next.”
And if there’s one thing that Channing is pleased with is her relationship with Everly, his and Jenna’s nine-year-old daughter. The beaming father talked about how he just tried to focus on his little girl.
“I just dropped everything and just focused on her. And it was truly the best possible thing that I ever could have done. Because in the alone time that I have with just me and her, we’ve become best friends.”
When asked about his current relationship with Zoe, who he has been dating since 2021, Channing shared that he doesn’t know if he’ll ever get married again.
The actor admitted that relationships were complicated but that he was a serial monogamist.
“In business, I have no real fear of anything being destroyed. But heart things, when it comes to people I love, I have a really hard time. I end up trying too hard, you know?”
The Dear John actor further explained that he ends up trying too hard, which is not always a good thing, although he is trying to relax and experience the moment. Channing also shared that he has been working on not being afraid of what’s not going to work and the what-ifs and just focusing on the present moment.
