Channing Tatum Teases Possible Team-Up With Ryan Reynolds, Calls Their Pact “Binding”
Could Channing Tatum and Ryan Reynolds be bringing their superhero chemistry back to the big screen? Fans are crossing their fingers after a recent Instagram exchange between the Magic Mike star and Deadpool actor hinted at a potential reunion.
On Tuesday, Channing, 44, reposted a lighthearted message from Ryan, 48, that has sparked excitement. Ryan, who starred alongside Channing in Deadpool & Wolverine, playfully suggested he would be “down” for another project if the right opportunity arose. In the action-packed blockbuster, he fulfilled a longtime dream by bringing the beloved X-Men character Gambit to life.
In his original post back in September, Ryan shared a fun promise: if Channing ever needed a cameo for a solo Gambit movie, Deadpool would happily make an appearance. “If he needs a Deadpool, I can do that,” Ryan joked, adding, “Someone to provide fresh orange slices to the crew, no problem. Name it.”
Channing responded by calling Ryan the “best human ever” and jokingly declared their pact to collaborate again a “binding contract.” He even added a gold “True Story” gif at the bottom of his Instagram Story, fueling hopes that the two stars might officially reunite on screen someday.
Ryan, who served as both star and executive producer for Deadpool & Wolverine, also praised Channing’s performance as Gambit in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. In the actor’s words: “And Channing is so singular in how he plays that character, but also he’s so beautiful physically, the way he moves and the way he can pick up steps.”
Reflecting on Marvel’s potential plans, Ryan admitted he wasn’t sure what’s next for the Gambit character but noted Marvel’s enthusiasm for Channing’s portrayal. “Sometimes they just need to see it in action,” he stated.
While the superhero future remains uncertain, Channing and Ryan’s fans won’t have to wait too long to see Channing back on screen, as the actor is set to appear in Alpha Gang, a sci-fi adventure directed by the Zellner brothers and produced by Cate Blanchett. The film, which also stars Channing’s ex-fiancée Zoë Kravitz, has an impressive cast lineup, including Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun, Léa Seydoux, and Riley Keough.
Channing and Zoe, who recently announced their split, will continue to work together on the film, which is already generating buzz. A source told PEOPLE that the pair share a deep respect for each other’s passion and dedication. In the source’s words: “They will continue to work together and are excited about a new project. They both love filming and creating. Channing has a lot of respect for Zoë’s focus and passion.”
