Cher’s Son Elijah Blue Allman Hospitalized After Behaving “Erratically”
Cher’s youngest son, Elijah Blue Allman, has been hospitalized after authorities say he was found “acting erratically” at a home in Landers, California, on Saturday, June 14.
According to a statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, emergency responders were called to the scene where Elijah, 48, was being assessed by paramedics. Deputies reported finding drugs inside the home, though the investigation remains ongoing. News of the incident first broke through TMZ and was later confirmed by law enforcement to PEOPLE.
Elijah, the son of music icon Cher and the late Southern rock legend Gregg Allman, has had a complicated journey in the public eye — one marked by creativity, addiction, and resilience.
While Elijah’s hospitalization has sparked fresh concern, his estranged wife, singer Marieangela King, is standing firmly in his corner. In an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, she described Elijah not as a man in crisis, but one fighting his demons with strength and integrity.
“While it is true that Elijah has faced personal challenges in the past, one constant has been his unwavering commitment to sobriety and his loyalty to those he loves,” Marieangela said.
She called public assumptions about his struggles incomplete, adding, “Despite the assumptions that often color how his journey is portrayed, the reality is that Elijah remains grounded, focused and deeply committed to living with integrity and purpose.”
“…I will always root for him,” she said with finality. “My support is steadfast and comes from a place of deep respect for the person he is and the resilience he continues to show.”
Elijah, who performs under the name P. Exeter Blue, is known as the frontman of the goth-metal band Deadsy. He was born in 1976 to Cher and Gregg Allman, joining a blended family that includes older half-brother Chaz Bono (Cher’s son with Sonny Bono) and four siblings from his father’s side.
Back in 1999, Cher gave a telling description of her son to Entertainment Weekly: “He’s a really smart, really talented, really strange person. He marches to his own drummer more than any person I’ve ever met.”
Their relationship has long been described as complicated. On a 2004 episode of Dr. Phil, Cher said of Elijah, “He and I have such a bizarre relationship… I don’t really understand him. Somehow, Elijah and I kind of talk through osmosis.”
That dynamic played out in courtrooms and headlines over the last two years. In December 2023, Cher filed for temporary conservatorship of Elijah’s estate, citing concerns about substance abuse and his mental well-being. Though that case was later dropped following a private agreement, the legal battle added another chapter to their layered bond.
In a separate twist, Elijah’s estranged wife previously alleged that Cher hired four men to kidnap him from a hotel in an effort to stage an intervention — a claim the pop legend flatly denied.
