Chrissy Teigen Reveals She Had Hairline Lowering Surgery After Post-Baby Hair Loss

Chrissy Teigen is never one to shy away from sharing real moments with fans, and her latest reveal is both honest and heartfelt.
The 39-year-old model, author, and mom of four recently posted a picture of herself in the hospital with her face wrapped in bandages, sparking curiosity across social media. Now, Chrissy has explained exactly what happened — and it’s not as dramatic as it looked.
“Hi friends! [A] lot of you have been wondering about my hospital pic which is very understandable as I gave no explanation lol,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories on May 23.
“I had a hairline lowering procedure,” she continued.
Alongside her message, she shared a photo of herself gently pulling back her bandage to show stitches right along her hairline.
Chrissy explained that after having her children, she lost a lot of hair in the front of her scalp. “…It’s just very thin up there,” she wrote, adding a behind-the-scenes beauty confession: “When you see it on a carpet, it’s ALWAYS extensions.”
While she didn’t dive too deep into the procedure yet, she did hint that more details are coming soon.
Chrissy has always been transparent about her beauty journey. Back in 2021, she revealed she’d had an eyebrow transplant — where hair from the back of the head is moved to the brows — to create a fuller look. “I never wear makeup if I can avoid it so I was so excited for this,” she said at the time, showing off her post-surgery brows.
She’s also played with her hair in more temporary ways. Earlier this year, she chopped her signature long waves into a sleek short bob, which she showed off at the 2025 Grammys. “Keeping it short!” she captioned the glam reveal, giving credit to her styling team.
And who could forget when she dyed her hair pastel pink in 2021? Or when she rocked blonde and light brown highlights back in 2020? Chrissy’s hair has always been a canvas — and she’s never afraid to hit “refresh.”
Chrissy and her husband, singer John Legend, 46, share four children: Luna and Miles, whom she carried, and Esti and Wren, who were born via surrogate last year.
