Christina Perri, the talented singer known for her hit song A Thousand Years from The Twilight Saga, holds a special place in her heart for the beloved fantasy film series. Despite her busy schedule, Perri admitted during an interview with PEOPLE that whenever the movies are on TV, she can’t resist tuning in, describing them as “must-watch” television.
In a recent interview at Audacy’s Leading Ladies event, Christina expressed her enduring love for the Twilight series, revealing that she revisited the entire film collection during the pandemic in 2020. For the singer, the Twilight films are more than just entertainment—they’re a connection to a world she holds dear.
“Any time they’re ever on TV, you know I’m not changing the channel. Any hotel I go to, I’m passing through, and it’s on? I’m like, ‘It’s a must!’” she shared.
The Twilight series, based on Stephenie Meyer’s novels, catapulted stars like Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and Robert Pattinson to fame, captivating audiences with its mesmerizing tale of love and supernatural intrigue.
Perri’s iconic song, A Thousand Years, served as the emotional centerpiece of the Twilight soundtrack, perfectly capturing the essence of Bella and Edward’s epic romance.
While Christina’s career soared, she faced personal challenges on her journey to motherhood. After welcoming her daughter Carmella in 2018, she experienced heartbreaking losses, including a miscarriage and the loss of her daughter Rosie, born silent due to complications.
Despite her grief, Christina and her husband Paul Costabile found joy with the arrival of their daughter Pixie, whom they lovingly call their “double rainbow baby.” Inspired by her own experiences, the Jar Of Hearts hitmaker has become an advocate for maternal health, raising awareness about a treatable blood-clotting disorder that may contribute to pregnancy loss.
Perri is committed to driving change in pregnancy screening protocols, advocating for early testing to prevent unnecessary losses. Her dedication to this cause stems from a desire to spare other families from the pain she endured.
As she shared, “While I’m waiting for the actual policy to change and for the protocol to change — that takes so long— so like word of mouth is it. So I feel like that’s what I’m working on right now. I’m just talking about it all the time, and then I know a lot of people who get the test [and] found out they had it. So many babies have already been saved — it feels so worth it, but I’m not going to stop until women don’t even have to think about it.”
