Unless you’ve been living under a social media rock these past few weeks, you must have already seen snaps of Barbie co-stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling from the set of the upcoming 2023 movie, which is being directed by acclaimed filmmaker Greta Gerwig.
And the latest leaked pictures have everyone talking (and meme-ing)!
Twinning in bright, neon-colored outfits, Robbie and Gosling looked fantastic while rollerskating by the beach in Venice, California. The pair were clearly having a great time shooting for their upcoming live-action movie in which they will be playing the lead roles of Barbie and Ken. The duo looked at ease as they cruised around, wearing matching rollerblades as well as knee pads. The chemistry is already looking pretty great if you ask us!
Since the casting of the new, upcoming Barbie film was announced, we have not been able to contain our excitement — and we doubt anyone who grew up with the franchise has been able to either. The photos are just a peek into what promises to be an incredible live-action of the world’s most beloved fashion doll. Already, it’s become one of the most anticipated releases for summer 2023.
The new set of pictures is another addition to the leaks that have been making the rounds on the internet for the past few weeks. Though no plot details have been revealed, every set has gone viral on social media platforms.
It hasn’t been long since Warner Bros officially debuted the first looks of the Gosling and Robbie, but the number of pictures that have surfaced online has far exceeded the official images.
A week earlier, the duo was seen in Los Angeles wearing coordinated cowboy attire on set. There have also been pictures of Margot Robbie and America Ferrera, who will also be a part of the ensemble cast, holding hands and rollerskating on the sidewalk.
The actors have been quoted as being super excited about the film, with Margot Robbie remarking about the honor of portraying a character that has inspired millions of children around the world. Simu Liu, who is reportedly playing another version of Ken in the movie, spoke in an interview about how the movie is “wild” and “incredibly unique”.

The project features a star-studded cast that includes A-listers like Michael Cera, Will Ferrell, Issa Rae, Emma Mackey, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Ariana Greenblatt, and Alexandra Shipp. If all goes well, the movie will land in theatres on July 21, 2023.
The film is being directed by actress and Oscar-nominated filmmaker Greta Gerwig who officially signed onto the film back in July 2021. Her two solo directorial ventures, Lady Bird in 2017 and Little Women in 2019, were critically and commercially well-received. Both films received Academy Award nominations. She co-wrote the screenplay with Noah Baumbach whom she has collaborated with before. The duo has worked on movies like Greenberg (2010), Frances Ha (2013), Mistress America (2015), and White Noise (2022).
