Devastated Alec Baldwin Faces Involuntary Manslaughter Charges, And His Wife, Hilaria, Is Heartbroken For The Actor
Alec Baldwin is reportedly devastated by the idea that he is facing involuntary manslaughter charges. At this trying time, Alec and his wife, Hilaria, have been leaning on each other for support.
One source shared with People that the couple was ready for the outcome, but nothing could have fully prepared them for this. As of today, the two are trying to bring some sense of normalcy into their lives and attempting to maintain their focus on their children.
Hilaria has been Alec’s rock, a constant source of strength throughout the ordeal. Still, it has become more and more challenging for Hilaria to see her husband, and the current situation has become heartbreaking. Despite her emotions, she is supporting Alec steadfastly as they both continue to do what they can as parents to be strong for the kids.
Last Friday, 64-year-old Alec was seen for the first time since he vowed to fight the charges he is currently facing. All of these are concerning the death of cinematographer Halina Hutchins during the filming of Rust last October 2021 in New Mexico.
The actor was seen slightly flushed and panicked as he made a dash towards his car coming from his Manhattan apartment. He was then seen entering an office building, where he tried to avoid the media from snapping photos of him by covering his face with a bunch of letters.
As of date, neither Alec nor anyone from camp has released an official statement yet, but he did like the Instagram post of Mickey Rourke, a fellow actor. Mickey wrote that there is “no way in hell” that Alec should face those charges.
Meanwhile, his wife, 39-year-old Hilaria, was also seen leaving their Manhattan apartment alongside some of their children. She was seen holding two cups of coffee and donning a green sweatshirt with “Empathy” emblazoned on the front.
Hilaria looked tired but kept a stony face as she went to get the children from the driver. This is a stark contrast to how the mother of seven was all smiles and draped in diamonds when she left their home last Thursday, where she was making the school run. Her mood changed after the announcement was made.
In a surprising and even questionable turn of events, sources say that the production of Rust will continue despite the involuntary manslaughter charge. The big question is how Alec can continue with his leading role in the movie.
The lawyers representing Alec were transparent with the actor’s intention to contest the charges. According to Alec, he should not be held liable for the props used on the set because this was the responsibility of the set’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who is also facing the same charge as Alec.
Recall that the movie’s assistant film director, Dave Halls, already pleaded guilty to negligence and was given a 6-month suspension.
But Mary Carmack-Altwies, the prosecutor of Sante Fe who made the announcement, was clear when she mentioned that “an actor doesn’t get a free pass.” She was the one who insisted on the fact that it was Alec who personally pulled the gun’s trigger that ultimately killed Halina.
If proven guilty, Alec and Hannah face a maximum of 18 months of jail time, and if they are convicted of another charge or firearm enhancement, they’re looking at a five-year prison sentence.
