DeVon Franklin Opens Up About Healing Process After Divorce From Meagan Good
DeVon Franklin, a well-known figure, recently shared his journey of healing after his divorce from Meagan Good. In an interview with The Breakfast Club podcast, DeVon expressed his emotions and the challenges he faced since parting ways with the talented actress from Harlem.
Addressing his mental state, DeVon stated, “Mentally, I’m doing much better.” However, he acknowledged that reaching this point required a process of introspection and emotional growth. “I can sit here before all of you and have this interview and be calm and introspective and all that. But that comes from a process, you know?” he explained.
During this healing journey, the 45-year-old disclosed that he had encountered moments of sadness and anger. He honestly shared that there were nights when tears streamed down his face before falling asleep. While he acknowledged the difficult moments he has encountered throughout his healing journey, he pointed out the necessity of allowing himself to feel these emotions in order to heal. He also recognized that avoiding or suppressing his feelings would only prolong the pain.
Despite the end of their marriage, DeVon revealed that his love for Meagan remains, albeit in a different form. “The love for us has not gone away. It’s just changed form,” he explained. According to him, the former couple still maintains communication with each other, as well as mutual respect and care.
DeVon’s love story with the Deuces star began on the set of the 2011 film Jumping the Broom, where they first met. Their engagement followed in May 2012, leading to their wedding the next month. However, after nine years of marriage, DeVon filed for divorce in December 2021, citing irreconcilable differences. Speaking to PEOPLE at the time, the former couple described the move as part of the evolution of their love, clarifying that no one was at fault.
Both Meagan and DeVon have publicly addressed their separation since the news broke. DeVon, while appearing on Red Table Talk in December, 2022, revealed his unexpected emotions regarding his newfound unmarried status. “It changes everything… I just bought a piece of property, the first piece of property. In the contract: ‘DeVon Franklin, an unmarried man,” he recalled.
Meagan echoed similar sentiments during her solo cover story for ESSENCE magazine, admitting that divorce was her greatest fear. Speaking on the issue published in March, the 41-year-old expressed her devastation upon realizing it was happening as she questioned why she had put so much effort into their relationship, only to face such an outcome.
Recently, rumors have circulated about Meagan’s potential romance with actor Jonathan Majors. While neither party has confirmed the speculation, DeVon discussed the situation on the podcast, expressing genuine happiness for his ex wife and wishing her nothing but the best.
