Disney+ Expands Content Strategy with Adult-Oriented Series
Disney+ is redefining its streaming direction by adding more adult-themed and crossover content. After merging Hulu content under its platform, Disney is planning a diverse set of projects, including suspense dramas and edgy comedies. This shift comes after a decline in family-focused subscriptions and a need to capture a broader audience like Netflix and Amazon Prime. CEO Bob Iger mentioned that storytelling must “evolve with audiences’ expectations.”
Upcoming highlights include an FX-inspired series based on true events and a new Marvel spinoff centered on complex, darker themes. The strategy signals Disney’s growing recognition that the modern streaming audience seeks depth and variety beyond nostalgia.
