Dita Von Teese Praises Taylor Swift: “She’s So Smart, And Professional…”
Dita Von Teese, the queen of modern burlesque, stopped by Lorraine’s talk show on Wednesday and couldn’t stop gushing about Taylor Swift. The 52-year-old performer shared her admiration for Taylor, calling her “amazing” and revealing how the pop star reached out to collaborate.
“I just love that she [was] like, “I wanna showcase what you do,’” Dita recalled.
“She knew everything about burlesque and what I do, which is really amazing. And she’s so smart, and professional, and funny,” she added after explaining that other entertainers usually don’t even ask or show respect for their craft.
In her words: “The approach that she gave me was a side-by-side. Certainly, people approach me all the time like, ‘Oh, can I use your glass?’ — or they don’t even ask me, they just copy as best they can.”
Dita applauded Taylor for her unique approach, which allowed them to perform side-by-side in a video that sees Taylor transform from a Cinderella figure into a dazzling dancer clad in a stone-covered corset and red lipstick.
This collaboration isn’t the only thing keeping Dita in the spotlight. The burlesque icon is gearing up for her highly anticipated new show, Diamonds and Dust. First teased on her Instagram in March 2023, the production is described as “a tale of the Good, the Bad, and the Lucky” and promises all the glitz and glamour Dita is known for.
Set to take over the Emerald Theatre in London’s West End, the theatrical extravaganza will feature Dita starring as “Lady Luck,” complete with her signature skimpy, sparkling costumes and iconic props. Previews begin June 16, 2025, with the official opening night set for July 3.
In a casting call earlier this month, Dita invited performers to join her on stage, and fans are already buzzing. On Wednesday, she shared an Instagram post encouraging fans to “sign up now” for exclusive priority ticket access starting February 10. “Don’t leave it to chance,” the caption teased.
