Divorce From Kevin Costner Turns Ugly, Christine Baumgartner Finally Moves Into a $35,000 Rental
Kevin Costner finally had one of his divorce conditions fulfilled as his ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner, finally found a new home. The 49-year-old former model is slated to move into a new rental home in Santa Barbara that costs $35,000 a month.
This was a somewhat major win for the 68-year-old actor who has been adamant about getting his ex-wife to move out. After 18 years of marriage, the two cited irreconcilable differences in the divorce papers filed last May despite being already separated by April.
Though Christine left the main house last July 28, she occupied a smaller home on the same property that was designed for the staff. According to sources, the mother-of-three opted to stay on the property a while longer so as not to disrupt the lives of their children who will be returning to school soon.
Since then, court proceedings have taken on nasty undertones. Kevin accused his ex-wife of refusing to leave his mansion despite giving her $1.45 million to find a new home. Christine lashed out by saying that Kevin wants her and their children to become homeless. She also expressed fears that the Hollywood actor might exact revenge on her because she asked for a divorce. Additionally, the former handbag designer is afraid that her ex might have police escort her out of their marital home.
As expected, the unpleasant turn of events has left their closest friends divided. Christine’s friends believe that Kevin is just using the house as an opportunity to humiliate his ex-wife, punishing her for filing for divorce. While Christine did her best to make the transition as peaceful as possible for the sake of their children, Kevin did the opposite and showed no concern for possibly causing the kids’ trauma.
Christine Accused of Ransacking Home
If these recent events weren’t enough, Kevin also accused his wife of ransacking their home in Santa Barbara. His attorney shared that Kevin believes his ex has taken his belongings “without his knowledge or consent.” Meanwhile, Kevin’s team is convinced that Christine “had been planning her exit long before she told [Kevin] in April 2023.”
As a result, she has been told not to take any art, furniture, or appliances with her unless it was approved by Kevin. Feeling slighted, Christine submitted a legal document to Kevin’s attorney that has photos of items she plans to take with her.
A portion of the document stated that Christine had rented a temporary off-site storage where she could place some of her things, including pots and pans, silverware, a Peloton bike, clothing, personal items, and family heirlooms. It was also indicated that Christine would like to keep a mother/daughter horse picture.
So, where is Christine moving to?
The property is 10 miles from their previous $145 million home. The luxury rental has four bedrooms, bathrooms, and amenities like a fire pit, swimming pool, and BBQ area. It is surrounded by lush shrubbery and is in one of California’s upscale neighborhoods.
Kevin and Christine have three children together, 16-year-old Cayden, 14-year-old Hayes, and 13-year-old Grace.
