Dolly Parton Celebrates 78th Birthday With Surprise Music Release
Country music icon Dolly Parton marked her 78th birthday in a truly special way by surprising her fans with the gift of new music. On Friday, she took to Instagram to share the exciting news with her devoted followers.
In a message posted as an image, Dolly announced, “Hey fans and friends, It’s my birthday, so I’m going to give you a present!”
She went on to reveal that she’s releasing four previously unreleased songs to accompany her Rockstar album. She also hinted at a few additional tracks that fans may not have heard before. Her message conveyed her hope that everyone enjoys the music and wished them a happy birthday from her side.
Dolly expressed her gratitude to her fans by concluding with a sweet note, simply signing off with “Thanks for everything, Dolly.”
She captioned the post, “Surprise! Stream ‘Rockstar Deluxe’ wherever you get your music ❤️🔥.”

The new deluxe edition of her rock-inspired album, Rockstar, featuring these special tracks, comes after the album’s initial release in November the previous year. When she first announced the album in May 2023, Dolly shared her excitement about presenting her first Rock and Roll album, which included 20 iconic covers and nine original songs.
“I’m so excited to finally present my first Rock and Roll album Rockstar! I am very honored and privileged to have worked with some of the greatest iconic singers and musicians of all time,” she said in a press release at the time.
The Coat of Many Colors singer expressed the joy she experienced while recording the iconic songs for the album, and she hoped that her fans would enjoy it just as much as she did creating it.
In a surprising twist, Dolly also shared an anecdote about her interaction with royalty. She revealed that she had been invited to afternoon tea by none other than Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales. She expressed her deep honor and flattery at the invitation but, due to a hectic work schedule, had to decline the offer.
However, she eagerly stated her willingness to accept the invitation in the future, emphasizing the shared passion she and Kate have for helping underprivileged children. Both Dolly and the Princess of Wales have launched successful initiatives focused on early childhood development and support for children in need.
Dolly Parton’s admiration for the British royal family isn’t new; she had previously met Queen Elizabeth during her Silver Jubilee in 1977. Despite her initial nerves, she recalled the Queen as warm, sweet, and very giving.
