Dolph Lundgren And Wife Emma Krokdal Sworn In As U.S. Citizens
Action star Dolph Lundgren, famous for his role in Rocky IV, along with his wife Emma Krokdal, are now official citizens of the United States following a naturalization ceremony held in Los Angeles.
The ceremony, which took place on Monday, saw Dolph, 66, and Emma, 27, pledging their allegiance to the U.S. as they raised their right hands. Photographs captured the couple’s proud moment, with Dolph posing alongside an American flag and his citizenship document.
Expressing his gratitude, Dolph shared with PEOPLE, “I’ve been in this country on and off for over 40 years now. I love America and the wonderful opportunities this country has given me. I’m proud to finally become a U.S. citizen and officially make this my home. It’s about time.”
The couple tied the knot in July 2023 in Mykonos, Greece, after years of engagement. Despite delays due to the pandemic and Dolph’s health battles, the couple finally celebrated their union surrounded by family and close friends.
Reflecting on their journey, they told PEOPLE, “We chose to celebrate our love by getting married at our villa in Mykonos with family and a few close friends. With both COVID and a long road of challenging medical treatments, we’ve had to push our marriage plans many times. We felt it was finally the right time to celebrate love, life, and happiness— in the land of the Gods.”
The couple’s love story began in 2019 when they met at a gym in Los Angeles, where Emma worked as a personal trainer. Speaking about their attraction for each other, Dolph said, “I didn’t know why she liked me at all, but I suppose she saw something there. She didn’t know about my acting career, she didn’t know anything about me.”
Despite facing adversity, including Dolph’s battle with kidney cancer, which he revealed in May 2023 after first receiving a diagnosis in 2015, their bond has only grown stronger.
Speaking about his wife’s unwavering support, Dolph said, “I felt sorry for her because she’s quite a bit younger than me and having to deal with all this b—— and all these doctor’s appointments, but she’s been very good about it and super supportive. I think it’s brought us together, she’s like an angel that was sent down to help.”
If there is one thing Dolph’s battle with cancer has taught him, it is that people need to appreciate life more.
“You appreciate every day I can be with people I love. You just appreciate, you know, having been lucky enough to be alive and appreciate every moment there is,” he shared.
