Drake Adds $10,000 Prize To Lookalike Contest
Toronto turned into Drake City on Dec. 14, as fans competed to prove they were the ultimate Drake doppelgänger. Hosted by Casuals Cakery, the event brought together contestants who went all out to mimic the rapper’s iconic looks. But the highlight? Drake himself sweetened the deal, adding $10,000 to the prize pool.
“I’m adding 10 bands to the lookalike contest as the main prize,” the rapper, 38, wrote in a message to the bakery. The organizers couldn’t believe their luck, replying, “Just give me a min to stop hyperventilating this moment. I can’t believe this is ur account and u know about this. Omg I love you.”
Videos shared by The Brandon Gonez Show captured the excitement, showing contestants grooving to Drake’s music while sporting everything from cornrows to low cuts. Fans watching online were both impressed and amused, with one joking, “I just know the employees at Cloré Beauty Supply and BSW were confused at all these random individuals buying bobbles and hair clips.”
The audience ultimately decided the winner by cheering the loudest for their favorite Drake lookalike. Third place went to a contestant rocking cornrows, glasses, and a gray and yellow jacket. Second place was claimed by someone in a bulletproof vest, black T-shirt, and cornrows. But the surprise winner? A female fan who nailed the look with pigtails, a camouflage jacket, and a sprayed-on beard!
Social media erupted with various reactions, with fans calling the event “legendary.”
Drake isn’t the only celebrity inspiring lookalike contests. In October, actor Timothée Chalamet caused a stir when he attended a New York City contest dedicated to finding his own twin. The event grew so big that organizer Anthony Po was fined $500 for hosting without a permit. Chalamet’s team not only offered to pay the fine but also shared their excitement about the fun-filled tribute.
“They basically [said] like, ‘We thought it was awesome. Thanks so much.’ It was all good and fun,” Anthony said.
