Dua Lipa Shares Hilarious Chair Struggle At Golden Globes
Dua Lipa recently shared an amusing behind-the-scenes moment from her first-ever attendance at the 2024 Golden Globes. In a light-hearted video posted on Tuesday, the talented 28-year-old singer humorously struggled to sit comfortably in her elegant dress during the prestigious film and TV awards show.
The amusing clip captures Dua slowly sinking into her chair while attending the event at the Beverly Hilton. While other guests engaged in lively conversations, the Levitating hitmaker found herself in a humorous predicament. She took to Instagram to express her gratitude to the Golden Globes, writing, “Thank you @goldenglobes for such a beautiful night last night—the only thing missing was a reclining chair.”
In another snapshot, Duo is seen laughing inside a sprinter van, showcasing her delightful sense of humor in the face of a wardrobe challenge.
Despite the humorous moment, the singer looked absolutely stunning at the 81st annual Golden Globes. She graced the event in a custom Haute Couture black velvet bustier gown adorned with embroidered gilded bones in diamond and gold, designed by Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli. This elegant design drew inspiration from Elsa Schiaparelli’s iconic 1938 collaboration with Salvador Dalí, as shared by stylist Lorenzo Posocco on Instagram.
Dua completed her awards look with a gold embellished wrap necklace from Tiffany & Co., complemented by deep pink lips and striking red nails.
The singer was nominated for Best Original Song at this year’s Golden Globes for her hit Barbie soundtrack single, Dance the Night. Her fellow nominees included Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, and Caroline Ailin.
Dua, however, didn’t take home the award, as the honor went to Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas O’Connell, for their song “What Was I Made For?”—another track featured on the Barbie soundtrack.
In a recent roundtable discussion, Dua shed light on the disco sound behind Dance the Night. Joined by Billie, 22, to discuss their nominated songs, Dua explained how the inspiration for the song came from the disco genre’s ability to bring people together and provide an escape during challenging times.
In her words, “Greta was saying how inspired by disco she was. I just thought about disco and the community it brings, and the way it brings people together. It was always a genre of music that was such a release when things weren’t going well in the world.”
Dance the Night was created specifically for Barbie’s “best day ever,” leading to contemplation about life and death, Dua explained, as she eloquently described the dualities of existence.
