During Q&A With Fans, Gwyneth Paltrow Confesses To Botox Injections
Celebrities and influencers invest a lot of time, money, and effort in their skin and body because of their profession. There is tremendous pressure to meet beauty standards in Hollywood, and even the wealthiest A-listers feel it.
Gwyneth Paltrow is one of the stars that has boasted a beautiful complexion for decades. In a recent Instagram Q&A, the Oscar-winning actress revealed to her fans and followers that she underwent Botox in the past, which has been successful and then less so.
The 51-year-old Goop founder was asked by one of her fans if she has ever tried Botox. Gwyneth gamely answered the question by posting it on Instagram stories: “God, yes. Both successfully and unsuccessfully, I’m afraid.”
Many were surprised that she answered the question so candidly, given that many actresses have always been reluctant to admit to getting any kind of cosmetic procedure.
Another fan posed the question, “How does your skin look so good?” Gwyneth gamely answered that she has always been very diligent with skincare. This is not a surprise—the actress has been open about her self-care routines. And, after all, she has been a pioneer in the clean cosmetics industry, which won Goop Beauty the 2022 WWD Beauty Inc Brand of the Year award.
This is not the first time Gwyneth has talked openly about battling signs of aging. In a conversation with Refinery29 back in 2020, the Iron Man actress shared, “In the past, I’ve never said that I won’t do plastic or cosmetic surgery because I think it’s important to stay honest about the fact that we all change as we age.”
Gwyneth hasn’t had Botox recently, although she admitted to using the injectable Xeomin, an FDA-approved drug that is marketed as the naked injectable.
Despite using this injectable, Gwyneth quickly clarified that she never wanted to look younger or not like herself. The businesswoman explained, “When I turned 40, I had a mid-life crisis and got anti-wrinkle injections all over my face, and it was awful. I looked horrible—one eye was actually higher than the other—and it was a big mistake, though luckily a temporary one.”
Gwyneth also told Harper’s Magazine, “I think it’s nice when women share, because there’s a lot of shame around surgery or injectables or fillers, and it would be nice if people felt confident about the choices they were making. But if they want to have a beauty secret, that’s okay, too. I’m an open book—I’ve shared what works for me because that’s how I’ve always learned.”
This year, Gwyneth talked to Vogue about her skincare routine and the treatments that she enjoys, such as lymphatic drainage, facial massages, and working facial muscles. The star revealed that she gets a little freaked out about lasers on her face and has seen weird results on other people, so she’s unwilling to take the risk.
Further sharing her routine, “Once in a while, I’ll do a facial with red light for inflammation or something like that. We also sell the Lyma Laser at Goop—it’s really good and gentle, so I’ll do that.”
