Eminem Excited To Be A Grandpa As Daughter Hailie Announces Pregnancy

Eminem is stepping into a new chapter of his life — becoming a grandfather! The 51-year-old rap icon is over the moon as he prepares to welcome his first grandchild, thanks to his daughter, Hailie Jade Scott. A source close to the rapper revealed that he is “excited” about the news and remains as protective as ever over Hailie, now 28, who recently announced she’s expecting her first child with her husband, Evan McClintock.

Eminem, known for keeping a low profile, was thrilled to share a glimpse of his growing family in the latest music video for his song Temporary. The video, which dropped on October 4, includes touching moments from Hailie’s wedding day, behind-the-scenes shots, and even a special clip of Eminem holding a sonogram image of his future grandchild. The song also features longtime collaborator Skylar Grey, adding an extra layer of emotion to the project.

“He’s always enjoyed his privacy,” shared the source. Speaking of the rapper’s property outside of Detroit, the source stated, “In Michigan, he can live exactly how he wants. He was never comfortable in the spotlight.”

 This privacy is something Eminem values deeply, as it helps him stay out of the public eye and focus on what matters most — his family.

The rapper’s bond with Hailie has always been strong, and she lives close to him in Michigan. “They’re very close. He’s excited about becoming a grandpa and supporting her. He’s always been very protective of her,” the source continued. 

Hailie, who got engaged to Evan McClintock in February 2023, tied the knot over a year later. Their love story, which started at Michigan State University in 2016, is now growing with the upcoming arrival of their baby.

In a recent episode of her Just a Little Shady podcast, Hailie opened up about the relief of finally sharing her pregnancy news with the world. She had managed to keep it a secret during her wedding, with the help of her friend Brittany Ednie. Brittany humorously recalled how she would take drinks on Hailie’s behalf at the wedding to keep up appearances, even though Hailie wasn’t drinking.

As Brittany recounted, “Whenever people were turned around, she would hand me her drink, and I would chug so it looked as if she was continuously drinking throughout that night.”

Eminem’s love for Detroit is well known, and the city plays a huge role in his life. “He’s a big Lions fan and truly loves Detroit. He’s really loyal to that,” another insider said.

This devotion was on full display when Eminem performed at the Live From Detroit: The Concert at Michigan Central event in June, showing that while he might be stepping back from the limelight, his love for his roots hasn’t faded.
