Family Feud: Priscilla Presley Is Not Talking To Riley Keough Due To Lisa Marie’s Will
After Lisa Marie Presley’s death, her family faced a new challenge as reports surfaced that her mother, Priscilla Presley, was not talking to Riley Keough, Lisa Marie’s daughter. And the reason behind the silence? Lisa Marie’s will.
Lisa Marie, 54, suddenly died six weeks ago after going into cardiac arrest at her home. The only daughter of music legend Elvis Presley and Priscilla made some changes to her will in 2016 when she removed her mother as her executor, leaving her children, Riley and Benjamin, as her rightful and legal heirs.
Unfortunately, Benjamin died in 2020 when he committed suicide, leaving Riley as the only heir. Priscilla is now contesting the will, which ultimately prevents her from getting anything from her daughter.
A source close to Lisa Marie mentioned on Page Six that the grandmother and granddaughter tandem are not talking and that their relationship is starting to change—a sad but true reality.
The same source reasoned that “This is the time Riley would really need her grandmother” and worryingly stated, “Riley is seeing a new side of her grandmother.”
A Graceland insider shared that Riley is not looking for a war or any discord with her grandmother because she has always shared a good relationship with her. Sure, Lisa Marie had issues with her mother, but she always made it a point not to include her children in her problems with Priscilla.
Additionally, Lisa Marie was naturally expected to outlive Priscilla, so there should be no disappointment that Priscilla was not included in Lisa’s will. It was predictable that whatever Lisa Marie had would go to her children. It’s how parents look out for their children when they’re gone.
This poses the golden question of why Priscilla feels she needs to be part of the will or be the most suitable person to run the show and take over.
Priscilla is scheduled to appear at March 13’s Oscars, where Austin Butler is pegged to win best actor for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in the biopic film Elvis. But Riley, who is also an acclaimed actress in her own right, is not expected and is unlikely to be present during the awards night.
Lisa Marie was the sole recipient of her late father’s estate, including $100 million and Graceland, all of which she received when she turned 25 in 1993. This was sixteen years after her father’s death.
Unfortunately, Lisa Marie had reportedly spent and wasted much of the money over the years. Until 2016, her mother, Priscilla, was her trustee, but since the amendment that happened, Lisa’s children, Riley and Benjamin, replaced her mother.
Priscilla claims that the court documents should be deemed invalid because of an invalid signature. And at the start of February, Priscilla had asked the public to ignore all the noise and reminded everyone that she has always been there for her husband’s legacy, their family, and their fans.
Priscilla also assured her followers that she would continue to create a path and head toward dignity, honesty, integrity, love, and respect.
But according to Entertainment Tonight, Riley is said to have been having difficulty coping with her mother’s loss and dealing with a trust dispute with her grandmother.
Priscilla is convinced that she has a valid case and will be successful in court, while Riley wants to settle the matter privately.
