Former Good Morning America Anchors Amy & T.J. Open Up About Lost Careers and Love
In a heartfelt conversation on their podcast, Amy & T.J., former Good Morning America co-anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes bared their souls and spoke candidly about the challenges they faced when their relationship became public knowledge. Their story is not just about love, but also about the pressures and sacrifices they endured in the wake of the revelations.
Amy, at 50, is no stranger to the world of television. She and T.J., 46, had always worked together seamlessly, but when their relationship became the subject of public scrutiny, they found themselves facing a unique kind of pressure. “We’ve always worked together, but working with this kind of pressure over our heads is a whole other thing … that pressure is a lot,” she revealed on their podcast.
Clarifying her stance, she emphasized that the pressure didn’t stem from the public’s expectations regarding their relationship. Instead, it came from the careers they believed were unfairly taken from them. “I don’t feel the pressure from the public to stay with you. But I feel the pressure of our careers that I believe were unfairly taken from us,” she tearfully confessed to T.J.
Amy went on to reflect on her decision to love T.J. despite the challenges and compromises. She shared that love, for her, is a choice – one that she willingly made despite the hurdles that came their way.
“I know that I know you well enough and I’ve spent enough time with you and I knew how I felt. And love sometimes is a choice, when it’s hard, it’s not just a feeling. Lust is a feeling, but love is a choice I believe, and I have chosen to love you,” she stated.
The emotional conversation also touched upon their desire to be reunited on screen. Amy expressed her longing to continue doing what she loves and to do it alongside T.J., which is where she feels the most pressure. Their connection goes beyond the personal; it’s deeply rooted in their shared passion for their profession.
But what if things were to go awry in their relationship? Amy admitted that she would be devastated personally because she had chosen T.J., and her heart remains firmly committed to him.
The launch of Amy & T.J.’s podcast on December 5 marked a significant milestone for the couple. It was exactly one year after ABC News President Kim Goodwin made the decision to put them on hiatus due to their workplace romance. Discussing ABC’s decision, Amy recalled, “December 5th last year, exactly one year ago today, was the day we were told not to come into work.”
T.J. added with a hint of humor, “We never got a follow-up call to say come back.”
