Generous Taylor Swift: Taylor’s Donation Will Feed Thousands of Families
Taylor Swift is giving back in style after the success of her Eras Tour. Her random acts of kindness while on the road are winning the hearts of many.
Last month, the 33-year-old superstar surprised a food bank in Seattle with an incredibly generous donation. Made during Taylor’s tour date at Lumen Field, the exact amount was not disclosed though some estimate that it was worth millions of dollars.
The recipient was Food Lifeline, a charity that supplies nutritious food to marginalized communities in Western Washington. The performer’s donation is guaranteed to assist thousands of families.
Food Lifeline acknowledged Taylor’s financial assistance through social media, thanking the pop star for her unexpected and heartfelt donation. “Secret songs weren’t the only surprises Taylor Swift dazzled Seattle with this weekend. She’s helping thousands of families facing hunger in Western Washington through a generous donation. Double clap and huge thanks to Ms. Swift for her incredible support, and we wish her the best on the rest of her Tour,” a representative from the organization wrote.
Food Lifeline also posted a series of Taylor’s photos alongside their caption. Additionally, their spokesperson shared with KIRO 7 that Taylor’s team requested them to keep the exact figures private. Still, he assured the public that it would be more than enough for thousands of pounds of fruits and vegetables that would be directed to 400 food banks across the Western Washington region.
Taylor, a 12-time Grammy Award winner, has been hailed four times as the most charitable celebrity. Over the years, she has established a reputation for helping those in need, especially during the pandemic.
In 2020, Taylor discovered the GoFundMe fundraisers of single moms Nikki Cornwell from Nashville and Shelbie Selewski from Harrison Township. The hitmaker responded with two separate donations, giving each of them $13,000. The recipients were featured in a Washington Post article that shared how millions of Americans welcome the holidays without employment and with growing past dues from utilities and rent.
Alongside her donation, Taylor wrote to Nikki, “I read about you in the Washington Post and thought it was really brave of you to share your story. I’m so sorry for everything you’ve had to go through this year and wanted to send you this gift, from one Nashville girl to another. Love, Taylor.”
Shelbie, the second recipient, found herself in dire financial straits after losing her job because she had to stay home with her daughter who was born with a collapsed lung. The article about Shelbie revealed that the struggling mother tirelessly exhausted all means to find another job while helping her 7-year-old daughter with her online classes.
Sharing her story, Shelbie said that she ended up selling whatever she could to pay their bills. It came to a point where she could no longer catch up. The single mother admitted she never thought she’d have to create a GoFundMe page. But with Christmas approaching, she felt she had no choice but to ask for help from strangers. Any donations she received would directly go to her family’s bills so they wouldn’t be evicted.
When Taylor read her story, the performer told Shelbie that no one should have to go through the stress that she’s been placed under. Apart from her financial donation, she wished the mom and her family a great holiday.
Previously, Taylor also shared $10,000 with Jacob Hill, an autistic boy, so that he could get a service dog. Other random acts of generosity include helping a fan pay off her student loans and donating $10,000 to another Swiftie battling cancer.
