George Clooney Hints at Possible Ocean’s Fourteen
Having several A-list celebrities in a single movie and giving them all a share of the limelight is a rare and impressive feat. But it has been achieved by the Ocean’s film series. The 2001 movie, Ocean’s 11, was so successful that it paved the way for several installments.
Recently, George Clooney got fans of the movie franchise all excited after hinting that there may be another sequel, namely Ocean’s Fourteen. The 62-year-old teased that a new film may be in the works and that there is already a great script for it.
While in New York, George had a conversation with Uproxx where he cryptically said, “We have a really good script for another Ocean’s now, so we could end up doing another one. It’s actually a great script.”
When George was asked if the new movie would follow the naming convention of the previous movies and be called Ocean’s Fourteen, George answered, “Well… I don’t want to call it that… I mean, the idea is kind of like ‘Going in Style.”
The Ocean franchise already has a prequel film coming up that features Barbie stars Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie. In the highly anticipated film, the two take on the roles of Danny Ocean’s parents, a move that was approved by George himself.
George comically told the outlet, “Yeah! Margot Robbie is my mother? I’ve always thought that. Ryan Gosling is my father. Now, when you think about it, it makes sense. Truly.”
Josey McNamara, one of the producers, insisted on Margot and Ryan for the roles. During his conversation with Games Radar, he exclaimed, “They’re wonderful together. The more projects even outside of that we can have them do would be amazing. I can’t really say much, but I think we’re just trying to do right by the franchise. I’m excited for people to experience it when it’s ready.”
Ocean’s prequel has been in production since 2022. Jay Roach, the movie’s director, confirmed that it is set in Monte Carlo in the year 1962 with the globally acclaimed Monaco Grand Prix as the backdrop of the film.
Many fans have long anticipated and hoped for an Ocean’s Fourteen after the success of Ocean’s Eleven, Twelve, and Thirteen.
Last year, it was reported by The Sun that Brad Pitt, who played the role of Rusty Ryan, including George and Matt have all signed on for the next production.
One source shared with the outlet, “Rumors of a film starring George, Brad, and Matt have swirled for years but the timing was off and their jam-packed schedules meant that it was just not possible. Finally the right team for the job has come together in a bid to make it a huge success and the main stars thought it would be good fun to revisit.”
Recall that it was Ocean’s 11 that started the franchise. Thanks to its brilliant storyline, it became a huge success. After all, who could possibly say no to watching a movie with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars? As it kicked off the franchise, it was a reboot of the 1960 film that shares the same title. It revolved around George’s character, Danny Ocean, a career thief who enlists ten accomplices who would rob three Las Vegas casinos simultaneously.
The film made its debut on December 7, 2001, earning $450.7 million globally while Ocean’s Twelve, released in 2004, had a worldwide revenue of $362.9 million. Meanwhile, the last installment, Ocean’s Thirteen, made $311.7 million in 2007.
