Gisele Bündchen Shares Insight Into Co-Parenting Journey With Tom Brady In Candid Interview
Supermodel and mother, Gisele Bündchen, recently sat down with Robin Roberts for a heartfelt conversation, shedding light on the intricacies of co-parenting her children with ex-husband Tom Brady. Gisele, 43, opened up about navigating this new chapter in her family’s life following their divorce, emphasizing the importance of balance and enrichment for her kids.
With two biological children, Benjamin and Vivian, and a stepson, Jack, from Brady’s previous relationship, Gisele shared insights into their blended family dynamic. Reflecting on the challenges and joys of co-parenting, she highlighted the adaptability and intelligence of her children, acknowledging that they navigate different rules in each household.
“I think there are easier days than others but I think it’s amazing that the kids…they’re super smart children. They know what they can get away with. So I think it’s natural that [our houses] have different rules and then kids just adapt. And they’re going to try to do what they want. And I can only control what I do. And I think for me, now is really about the balance,” she shared.
“Tom has to have time with them, and I have time with them, which I think is amazing because they get to really experience more enrichment for their lives. Two different worlds and they get to learn from two different worlds and that’s wonderful for them I think. They’re so big,” she added.
She went further to express gratitude for the opportunity to co-parent, providing their children with enrichment from two distinct worlds.
Discussing her role as a stepmother to Jack, Gisele shared heartfelt sentiments about experiencing maternal love before becoming a biological mother herself. Recalling her early bond with Jack, she expressed deep affection and a sense of fulfillment in nurturing him as a “bonus mom.”
In her own words, “I got to experience how it is to feel, to be a mom before I was even a mom. To be a bonus mom. So I got to experience how my heart could feel that love and just expand in ways I never thought were possible.”
Gisele’s commitment to her children’s upbringing extends beyond the challenges of divorce. In a previous interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she emphasized instilling important life skills and values in her children, acknowledging the evolving dynamics of their family structure. Drawing from her own upbringing, the actress strives to impart lessons of resilience and responsibility to her children, despite the complexities of co-parenting.
“Sometimes I get pushback, especially because now they’re in two different homes and there are two different ways. But I feel like I owe it to my kids, because of what my mom taught me,” she shared.
